I have a 15" coffin as of now. And it just doesn't fit my new bedroom.

I want to retrofit a commercial projector with a new bulb.

There's tons of broken/no bulb projectors on eBay for like $10 and up + shipping

My question is what is the ones that have been sucessfully retrofitted.

DLP
1 LCD
3 LCD

which one is the easiest

My needs:

at least 800x600
under $200 to retrofit

THANKS

That is something that is not really done much here. I doubt two or three members have tried it. So I don't think you will get much of a response.

There is a member on another forum that makes cheaper bulbs/reflectors for commercial projectors, but sometimes it is hit or miss :

Found this:

http://www.allinbox.com/modding.htm

these guys seem to use a HQI 150W bulb and retro it into a stock light assembly. Seems pretty straight forward. I don't read french, so the only thing that I'm wondering is that DO they use the unit's original ballasts to power these?

I figured they do.

So I went ahead and researched some commercial projectors that use 150W bulbs from factory.

When on eBay and picked up these two

http://www.projectorcentral.com/NEC-MultiSync_MT1030+.htm

http://www.projectorcentral.com/Epson-PowerLite_713c.htm

for a total of a bit over $100.

The NEC one is still in running condition and the EPSON needs a new bulb. Both of these use 150W bulbs.

I don't know what 150W NSH and 150W UHE means, but hopefully stock ballasts will work with the bulb I'm getting

HQI EIKO MH-SE150 (that's what the french guys are using)

http://www.interlight.biz/light-bulb/HQI-SE150/NDX

this one's a 4200K, I'm still looking for a higher Kelvin.

What do you guy's think?
