Here are some of the initial pics of my projector. I went the OHP and projection panel route the first time. Liked the results and deemed it worthy of throwing more money into it.

Here are some basic pics of the box. The only thing in it right now is the fan, and I am changing that, but it is a start. The fan is 12 volt and I have already ordered a 120 volt fan. Should be here lext week. As soon as those lenses clear customs and I get my lighting kit, I will have this thing done.

This box is a larger than the normal box because I am using the black plastic case around the LCD. I thought it would be a cleaner setup with this on, so I made the box larger. The box is a lot lighter than I thought it would be. Looking at it you would think that this thing is heavy, but it is not at all. I guess once the ballast is put in it, it will weigh a little more.

I hope to have more pics in the future, once I get the needed parts.

Side of box with LCD controls mounted. Just barely had enough space to put this in without messing with the location of the LCD.

This is a pic of the box with the LCD laying in it. Just to show the size of it. That LCD is the Liquid Video 15 inch.

Looks very good!

I hope mine will become that nice smile.gif

Looking good, nice and clean.

Won't the boards get in the way of the image if left in the frame?
cmessa
Are you refering to the case around the LCD? If so, it should not affect anything except the size of the box. The frame around the LCD is the same that you use when you view it as a desktop, so it should not effect anything.

What about the circuit boards? don't they fold back onto the LCD? I havent seen the stripping process of the liquidvideo so I dont know.
cmessa
The bottome circuit board does fold back into the panel, but this will not be a problem. It should not be in the way anymore than if I was to just use the metal around the LCD. The pic does show the back of the LCD on it, maybe that is confusing. That is only their to protect it until I mount it.

I will update with new pics hopefully soon and let you know of this idea of using the existing border will really work. I I tested it on an OHP and it worked fine, so hopefully it will work in this box.

I have a question:

I am also going to keep the case on my liquidvideo 15 panel. Since the case is going to be bigger is there any advantage of cutting the fresnel down to the actual LCD panel's size? Also should I increase the size of the tempered glass to protect the LCD's plastic case from the lamp?
cmessa
I am not sure about leaving the fresnel the full size. I do not see where it would matter, but Brainchild might be able to answer this better than me. You do want the glass to be the same size as the box. This is because of the air flow that is needed. You only want the glass to have a gap at the bottom to pull the air from the hole in the top down past the LCD. If it was any smaller, you might pull air around the glass and not down past the lcd.

If you have made your box big enough to hold your LCD case, then you must have made it larger then Brainchilds design anyway. If you have enough height built into your enclosure then you could go without cutting your fresnel. You still have to make sure that your fresnel and LCD screen are centered with your lamp and focal len's. If you plan on mounting your fresnels to your tempered glass, you also need to make sure it is also bigger then design. If you havent made your box yet, then you can design it around your needs.
