This is gona be my first build. i've read the PJ DIY guide, but still having trouble understanding the projector lens and matching fresnels. I know the ket from lumenlabs contain a matching projector lens and fresnels but i cannot order from lumenlabs as i am based in the UK and delivery is 1/2 the cost of the kit, so im gona try get what i can from UK to cut costs. I look on EBAY for projector lenses and i have found some but i am not sure if they are suitable, it doesnt say if it is a triplet and looks very different from the lumenlabs one.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kodak-projector-lens...id=p3286.c0.m14

Can i use this?

I played around with focalcalc and this is the results

It says i need a triplet FL of 385mm, is this the number on the kodak lens as f-180mm? if so then that lens's focal length is not enough right?

Say it was the right one. How would i know what a matching fresnel would be?

Your correct that lens will not work, the projector would be about 2 feet from the wall and would have all kinds of vignetting proplems. Hold out for something closer to lumenlabs specs I'm sure somthings bound to come up in the UK.

It's worth the wait!

Will you be using a 15" 4:3 LCD monitor or will you be using a 15.4" or 15.6" widescreen LCD?
