My Victim: LG L1552s ( not a popular model I think)
My ammunition -> a bunch of screwdrivers, a soft cloth under the LCD (for protection) some loud music and Lumenlab on the laptop ( of course!)
Warning : I do not have an anti-static mat or a wrist band( which are important) - I am tired of searching for components here in Hyderabad, so starting without them. I would strongly recommend these before you start though
Here is a pic of the LCD before starting:
The back of the LCD for record!
hmm... I don’t find any screws; let me start with the bezel. With little force the bezel starts to detach. Half way down the job:
The front bezel is off...
and I notice some writing on the inner side of the bezel with a white chalk ( did someone already open this?!) Anyway, checking for broken hinges, all safe!
Does this have AG? - I think yes
The back cover just comes off and gives way to the circuitry... the tricky part. took a couple of shots... in case i want to put this back for some reason!
Some documentation: This LCD has six connections on whole to the circuitry which is on the back panel -> 2 on top, 2 to the left and 2 on the bottom. Taking all precautions not to touch the circuit board
And from the LCD there are three connections to the circuitry on the back - > 2 from left side and one from top.

Removed 1,2 and 3rd cables that connect the LCD to the circuitry and the LCD is free to go. DO NOT pull the cables, they are fragile. Use a blunt tool with a reasonably long handle to slowly nudge the connectors from the inside. The pic below shows one of the main cables:
LCD and the back circuitry are now separated:
The LCD - This is LG.Philips from Korea. Happy, its not Chinese at least- see the label
