Not the ideal solution for a HT (garage), but the only option with two kids and less than 1400 sqft of living space! Anyway, I know the concrete floor is acoustically bad, but I would like to maintain its ease of cleaning. Carpet worries me, as this HT is also the laundry room, fitness center, work bench and storage area. I think I will eventually buy some heavy curtains to block the walls (lots of shelving and white cabinets), but the floor is a big question mark for me. I saw some recycled rubber flooring the other day (brand name 'tireplast') that was advertised as 'sound deadening'. Would a recycled rubber floor be a decent solution? Or would I be better off just rolling out a cheap carpet for more serious viewing. Also, any other easy to clean, not-acoustically-crap, affordable alternatives would be welcome.
Thanks!

The combination of the comfort floor and the roll out rug might be just the thing. Roll the rug up when you aren using it but keep the comfort floor down. It will also make sitting on the floor much more comfortable and keep the cold from seeping through the carpet.
