I am building my first projector. I have the following parts

Cap and coil ballast
450 MH bulb and mogul
Pro reflector
(2) 120 fans a
15 LCD stripped
LCD Controller
(2) Fresnels
Pro Lens
30 amp inline fuse
Thermometer

I have a couple questions.

1- do I need an igniter for cap and coil.
2- do I need a circuit breaker somewhere
3- should I use terminal blocks for the wires
4- What kind of switches will I need to run everything.

I plan on wiring a box inside to plug fans and lcd into.

Thanks to everyone for there help.

1) That depends on the ballast. Do you have a make and model number?

2) It's best to have a circuit breaker of fuse for safety.

3) You don't need them, but they help to keep wiring tidy.

4) It depends on what you want them to do. You can have a single DPST switch running two areas, or have multiple SPST switches. Ideally, you want to be able to allow the fan(s) to run after turning the lamp off. There is plenty of sample wiring diagrams on the forum. Google search: site:lumenlab.com wiring diagram
I would not recommend connecting your fans and LCD to the same power adapter due to electrical interference. You'll want separate power adapters for your fans and LCD.

1 - Depends on the bulb type.
2 - Unless you want to trip your home's circuit breaker every time you wire something wrong...
3 - There's a variety of options here. I used terminal blocks and a couple of wire nuts. Fust dont "twist & tape".
4 - Just make sure the switch is rated for the amps you're pulling through it. For your needs, 10A switches are fine.

Have you read the guides? Trust me, you'll save a lot of time, money, and patience if you spend some time reading the guides.

Hi. I just made my first DYP and i'm very very happy with the resault, thanks to the guide of all Lumenlab forum people. I have a question, if anybody knows: Why most 15" LCD DYP use the 317 fresnel with 320 triplet sold by Lumenlab? Is it possible to use a 220 fresnel with a 220 triplet insted ? with the 220 fresnel whe can build a smaller box, so, is there a problem with the image using a 15" LCD monitor?

I am going to use a switch to run the ballast and light seperately. I will wire the fan(s) and lcd direct. I have some 6am/125v toggles. I assume I need something better?

Thanks for the help.

P/S I am continuing to read the forums for answers also.

Thanks again

Also I will use a master switch with a 2 outlet plug in for lcd and fans and a separate direct switch for ballast and light.

just wondering if the 6 amp switches will work or do I need 10 amp?
