I got this 15" Samsung LCD.. and its a cool one. Originally I was going with an easy to strip Benq monitor (both new), but I changed my plan at the last mn8. I managed to get a pretty good deal on his monitor and save about $35. I thought if I wasn't able to use it in my PJ, I can find another use for it easily.

My problem now is that I cant find a way to get inside this thing.. There is not even one screw visible on the monitor. and I felt the sticker on the back and I believe there is nothing under there.

I've searched the forum for identical or similar monitors but I got nothing.

I found a suggestion to use a credit card to separate the back cover from the front frame, but the thing is I'm not sure where to work the card, plus the gab between the front and the back cover barely fits a regular writing paper.

There is a hole on the back with a padlock shaped on the plastic beside it.. not sure what its for. Anyone??

any suggestions?

here are some photos

These are photos of the actual monitor

It would be nice to know what the model number of the monitor is.
Okay - I got it from the location link from the first picture. It's a SAMSUNG 632NW.
You can find your User Guide here (not that it helps with the disassembly).

Does that oval part (where the stand fits on) come off? Can you pry the case apart using those five slots just below the oval piece?

Thanks Quasi_Mojo for replying..

I actually managed to take the plastic cover.. it was a pain in the down area.. it took a very thin, strong and long piece of plastic to get it done.. and about a gallon of sweat.. and let me tell you it was not that hot!

Now, I'm stuck at an FFC cable connecting the controller to the panel.. I'm not sure how to get it off.. anyone have an idea on how to get it off?
Check this image:

Here is where I'm so far in the next image.. I'm a bit worried about the two cables on the Left(1, 2).. do you think its going to be an issue?

Hi.. by the way..
Anyone tried projecting without diffusing the LCD backlight? would that improve the outcome?

Looks like you'll have to depress some locking mechanism on those connectors. Ready for more sweat? Got Gatorade? The connectors themselves hold on fairly firmly. Take your time and be gentle but firm. A little wiggling will help.

Those are for the backlight. They should pull right out.

Hi Durachko.. thank you for stopping by..

The problem is I'm not sure how it comes off.. I'm not sure where to press and what to pull.

I meant removing the plastic sheets behind the panel without removing the backlight. and projecting while its on.
I'm not sure what I'm talking about by the way.

Sounds like a personal problem. laugh.gif Seriously, you should be able to get a feel for what's going on there just by observation. Those little spring wires at the ends likely keep some pressure on some locking tabs and will have to be depressed to "unlock" the connector.

Projecting as in onto a screen or do you just wonder what the LCD would look like using it in a conventional fashion were those diffusing sheets removed? One cannot use a back light as the light engine part of one of our projectors - at least not to good effect. Too dim.

You see, I knew that and already tried it, but I was afraid of breaking the cable by pulling too hard specially since the monitor is brand new.. but after reading your answer, I thought I should get a bit rough, and I did.. and man oh man.. I finished the stripping in no time.

No, actually what I meant is to remove the non transparent plastic sheets behind the LCD panel and keep the transparent backlight panel and use it as a source of light with our regular setup and projection lamp.

And again, Not really know what I'm talking about.
