I've been playing around with some ideas after seeing the $1000+ Pioneer head unit my buddy just bought. Here's my idea...

Spec:
1GHz VIA Processor (Pico-ITX form)
300-500Gb Hard drive
7" - 1024x768 LCD w/ Touchscreen
USB GPS Unit
USB XM Unit
DVD player/burner, slot load
Wireless G connectivity (so I can load music/movies to my car from inside the house!)

And here is my render of what it should look like when I get done:

Now if I were to make this double DIN, I would also include 100WRMSx5 into the unit! So there wont have to be another amp sitting somewhere for the door speakers. WOW thats going to be ALOT to cram into such a small place!

But if you do accomplish this you can probably sell them smile.gif

Yeah, the second one looks like it has the best specs, but still only 120Gb, not wireless, only 800x480, and only 50w x 4.

Mine would have better specs, more options. Plus it's DIY!. So I can go cheap at first, and build on it. Instead of dropping $1600 in one sitting. Oh and mine will be single DIN. All of those are double!!!

Yeah, but I take more pride in making it myself then to just buy one. DIY fo LIFE! laugh.gif
