Hello,
If you noticed on basically all consumer electronics now have some kind of push button on it. A few of these are unique to a manufacturer. They are constructed using a PCB populated with small surface mount buttons, then a stamped plastic button will go over top of it. This plastic button is what pops through the device's chassis, and the use touches to push the switch below.
I'm wondering if anyone sells these stamped plastic buttons that look like an OEM product. Yeah I could use the typical radio shack red and black buttons, but those look so cheezy when you're trying to build something OEM looking.
Look at you cell phone/PDA, your home stereo, even your coffee pot, they all have them! Some like a little 4 button "+" for nav controls, or sculpted egg shaped buttons for control keys. This is what I need! I can cut the panel out to match the button, so thats no too much of a problem. I just dont want to have to machine all these stupid buttons and transfer ink on it, if I dont have too.
Anyone seen something like this? Pre-made buttons for a switch?

I did some searching on this and didn't find exactly what you were looking for. I found a lot of references to push button switches, push-to-set buttons and momentary contact push button switches. Unfortunately, not a lot of references to the cover piece that you are looking for.
I just had a thought, though. If you have an old remote control laying around, couldn't you cannibalize that for your OSD menu board?

You might be better off just going to your local recycling shop and picking up an appliance that has buttons close to your needs. Portable CD players seem to have the buttons closest to what you are describing. Maybe an electronics shop. Mine give stuff away for free as long as you are neat when taking the stuff out. Also see if you can find an old DISH Network receiver. That has a common round pattern +/- button array that might be just the thing for you.
