Hey guys,

Just curious what you guys think about this as a possible light source. 5000 lumen, 6500k, and 85 CRI. The best parts though provided it works, is its fluorescent (no heat smile.gif), also self contained, and full system: 65 bucks.

I emailed the owner, and he claims he has people using for photography without complaints (i was concerned about lighting evenness). Also there is a notation concerning a 5500k light with 93 CRI coming soon, but that has been there for quite some time.

Anyhow, i appreciate any opinions on the light posted in the link.

Thanks,
Travis

CFL's don't work very well at all.

You can't use them as a point light source so you will need several to cover the whole lcd.
And then your lumens will be very low since the LCD/triplet/etc only allow about 1% of the total lumens through.

A couple of members have used cfl's and the projectors were barely watchable in a totally dark room.
