Full Version: The Torpedo Projector

Well, I bought myself a torpedo projector. It's a little less than what I expected (and my expectations were rather low). It's got a strange haloing effect from the white levels and boy is this thing dark, despite the 35 watt halogen in it, and of course its low resolution.

Does anyone know of any CHEAP projectors in price but with a little more quality because man, this thing is hard to see from sometimes.

I heard that lumenlab made a projector for rather cheap but I can't find that bugger anywhere.

All in all, I still think that the torpedo is pretty good for its price, a good PERSONAL projector, or maybe for a group of 5 or less.

Also, does anyone know of any mods for this thing. I'm planning to get an LED MR16 bulb for it that has at least 200+ lumens.

I've tried some 50 watters and MAN were they dark! especially the constant color bulbs and the extended life ones. They hardly put out anything for 50 watts.

I'm going to check out to see if there is an LED that is brighter than the basic MR16 50 watt, if there is, I'm getting it.

The only other main problem is the massive haloing effect that the projector creates when there are white objects against darker objects. That and its incredible low resolution scale. My friend referenced the pixels on the projector looking like 'Spiderman's outfit pattern'

I may work these solutions out, but if not, could people post cheap projectors much like the torpedo...?
like the zoombox or 'Game Projector'

If not, feel free to discuss things about the torpedo projector.

I mean despite everything that is negative about it, it isnt half bad for what it is and its price.

I know...after watching the movie DUNE on it I noticed how DARK and pointless this projector really is. I mean I could watch this movie on a horrible TV just fine....

Now I'm looking into getting other projectors...

I really like the Lumenlab Evo 1.1 but as I have heard, its discontinued. I wonder if there's a person on here willing to sell it =P.

I know for sure after watching my dune movie that this piece of junk is going back. I couldnt see A THING, and when I usually see this movie, I can see EVERYTHING....sad.

I THOUGHT it was good enough, but it doesnt even meet that standard.

I now consider this projector nothing more than a light box, it has no definition to it.
