hey guys, i am a complete novice here, trying to think of what i have laying around the house for a diy projector. I know that we are supposed to use a bare panel from a lcd, can you use a bare panel from the screen of a laptop?? I have a Now defunct HP laptop with a 15" screen. Can I tear that apart or does it not have the correct connections/usability that we are looking for?? Thanks for any helpful suggestions!! Diesel42

Searching is a good thing.

And a FAQ Forum is a great place to start smile.gif

Many people do use laptop screens although you need a way to get input into them such as a controller. Your laptop motherboard was the controller for the screen you have. I'm not sure if there is a way to get just that part out of the mobo and power it up. You can check the forum to see if your lcd is compatible with any of the controllers out there.
