Full Version: LCD or controller the problem?

I just fixed my 575 watt lighting setup, but now something wrong is with my LCD sad.gif this is getting very frustrating. anyway, i can't tell if it's the LCD or the controller that's the problem. when i turn on the projector, the controller turns on and the LCD goes from white, to black, but then nothing else. if i try to bring up the menu, there is a slightly lighter gray square where the menu should be. no lines or streaks like a lot of FFC issues. but, i'm not really sure how i would have messed up the controller. help?

I can't speak for about the menu problem, but my old LCD/controller (Sharp WUXGA/G2A) would do something similar when it was being fed a signal it was incompatible with. Have you tried it with different inputs; does it matter what input you're using?

Have you tried hitting it?

i've only tried with the VGA port so far. but, i'm sending the same signal from my computer that i've always used (1280x768 i think at 60hz). also, whenever i've used it before, in the top left corner in bright green it's always displayed what input it's using but that label isn't showing up either. i haven't tried hitting it, but i'm getting ready to try the "chuck it against a wall as hard as i can to see if it makes me feel better" method
simp1yamazn
could it possibly be a bad LVDS cable?
simp1yamazn
tried 640x480 through s-vid and composite, no luck. anyone else have any ideas?

*bump* help?

Beats me... if it was my LCD I'd try jiggling all the wires (including the AC adapter), reseating all the plugs (and also double check they're in correct sockets), and give it a few "technical taps"... All while it was powered on. If that didn't help I'd probably poke at the FFCs attached to the LCD.

If there was no signs of life I'd probably just keep repeating the above more and more violently until it either miraculously started working or was definitely broken.

The LCD was working right? So far as you know it was working, you fixed the 575 stuff, and when you tried it again it wouldn't go, right?

Oh, it might be worth while to look over the controller and the other PCBs, maybe you can spot a fried IC or something. Make sure there's no screws caught underneath it.

What the heck, maybe try it without the 575 blazing... maybe it's... um... putting out too much IR and the LCD doesn't like it.

yea, the LCD was working. took it out oh so carefully to work on the ballast but now, no dice. i tried running it without the lamp running and didn't seem to change anything. I guess i'll just keep poking around til i fix it or kill it.

i have checked absolutely everything i know to check. no ffc damage, all the wires are snug in the LVDS cable, feeding an accepted signal through multiple inputs, but no luck. anyone at all have any ideas?

Hi,
I came across this thread, when I was looking for a solution to the same problem. My projector was working fine and then suddenly I saw, white circular region developed from centre and spreading towards the edges. I switched of
the PJ immediately. Later when I switched it on, i saw a black circular region spreading from the centre, and nothing else.

I saw realised that there was some voltage fluctuation at that time. So possibly, some parts got damaged in the electronics board (I was using only a TV stabiliser for my PJ). I observe in your case also, the problem came, when you replaced your bulb with 575 watts, so could be a case of high current developed in your PJ circuit.

I had similar problem with a car LCD earlier, which damaged when i used an adapter, which was giving 25 volts insted of the supposed 12 volts. I could however, get it repaired in a local electronics shop. They only changed a
small electronics part. So I hope this problem could also be sorted out like that, with luck! You may also try the
same. Hope it will work.
