Mine is kinda like this power supply
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16812120298
could this be used to for a light source it has 3 amps 117 v output wouldn't that be able to handle a 350w bulb amp x volt = watt? I got this power from a diy kit a while ago with a beseler 18" lens.

MH lamps need a burst of power to light them. Ballasts supply this burst then settle back to a lower/steady power supply.

well the power supply in the picture only outputs a PEEK of 3Amps, it's continuous output is 2Amps. Also the one on your link only outputs 13.8VDC. Even if you could use a power supply like this to run your light, thats not enough power to light much of anything. (13.8V x 2A = 27.6 watts continuous)
