Here's the part list (all that I can remember!)

Dell ultrasharp 1504FP
LL T15 Bulb
GE Coil Ballast
LL S15 optics kit
LL pro reflector
Adjustable themostat
2 120mm Cyclohm fans (run in series)
1/2 inch poplar (the box)
Various switches and components

All being run by a Kworld 1680EX

One of the things I aimed for was no light leakage at all. I did that, by putting baffles on the intake and outake.

And one other thing I tried differently is the box pulls air from the side instead of the top or bottom.

Inbetween the LCD and the first fresnel lens it stayes inbetween 75 and 78 degrees.

I'll post pics of it in action later.

How do you focus it? It looks like the triplet is fixed, or am I missing something?

And its beautiful BTW! biggrin.gif

The tempereature on the LCD is 75 to 79 degrees.
Air flow I really dont know the cfm's, I took some old fans that I allready had so I don't know allot about them.
But their 120mm Cyclohms that I ran in series.
Good luck with your build!

Hello Hookem,Your projector looks good, the screen shots are good too, with my D Link camera which has no exposure or timer or any other goodies ...I can't get a decent picture of the screen .........Its nearly all dark!!!But with my Sony Handcam I get a real good movie /Picture.
Can't You run the Cyclohms Fans in Parallel.....How much voltage do they take,12Volts???Cause I guess in parallel the curent will not get divided between the fans.
Could you please explain this shower drain method.......Can U change the distance between Projector and Screen for different Screen sizes???I am looking for a neat and easy method for different screen sizes !!!
Your Beamer looks just neat and Good!
Cheers!!

The Cyclohm fans are 110volt. I'm running them both with half the wattage.
The shower drain method is very simple. They have two peices that screw together, you mount one of the peices on the inside and on the other peice you mount the triplet lens, and the two screw together to give you adjustment room. so you can change your screen size.

Here's a Google search of the LL Forum for examples of the shower drain focus mechanism: site:lumenlab.com "shower drain"

Different screen sizes: Generally, with any DIY projector, moving the projector closer to the screen will decrease the size of the projection.

Thanks Quasi_Mojo,That really helped me understand the Shower Drain principle.
As I understand smaller the screen size further away the triplet will have to be placed from the LCD and for a large Screen size the distance between the LCD and the triplet reduces to get a good focused picture on Screen......So the triplet will have to travel a distance of about 30 mm either way for me to get a screen size between 50 inches and 100 inches with my 9.8 LCD.Also moving the full PJ from about 6 feet from the screen for the 50 inch and 12 feet away from the screen for the 100 inch screen Focal Calc helps!!!.Please correct me if I am wrong.

Hookem it would be nice if you could show some close ups of your shower drain system.
Thanks again.

Hey, I've got a question. Does blueray look better on a 1024 x 768 projector run with Kworld 1680EX than upconverted dvds?

Hi! I just made my first DYP similar to yours and i'm very very happy with the resault, thanks to the guide of all Lumenlab forum people. I used the optics from a OHP, a Philips 150 CDM bulb, a 15" IBM LCD (that had a isue with the FFC I can't resolve and have a little part of the image at the left with the shadow of a circuit) and a big gabinet build myself with MDF. My question is why most DYP don't use a 220 fresnel with a 220 triplet insted the 317 with 320 triplet sold by Lumenlab? with the 220 fresnel is possible to build a smaller box, so, is there a problem with the image with a 15" LCD monitor? A friend of mine is traveling to New York next month and i'm planning to buy the fresnel and the triplet to build a new proyector, and i want to know wich one to buy. Thank a lot for your time and excuses for my poor english.

Good question! I don't really know lol!
It may be that 320mm gives you more room for adjustments.
You could probobly use 220mm fresnels as long as their big enough for your LCD.
You may want to post you question in the beginners section, you'll get more responses.
Good luck!

Hey, I finally finished my theater room!
I't has a 90 inch DIY screen
a 5.1 surround setup and I allso have two Fisher floor standing speakers with 15 inch subs in them when I want to shake the house.
a mini refrigerator!
I got a Xbox, Ps2, Upconvert DVD player, Wii, VHS player, N64, NES and a computer all run through a Kworld 1680 EX (going to add a PS3 for the blu-ray player eventually).
With the DIY Projector of course!

Allso, Thanks Quasi, Insertname and craigcav12 for all the help! (and suffering through my early noob questions)

Unfortunatly, I'm allready starting on a 8 inch portable DVD player build. (I'm hooked) post-418-1138467352.gif

When I get the time I'll take pics of the HT.
I was joking, I love making and designing DIY pj's. post-418-1138467278.gif
Right now I'm making the 8 inch, but in about a year I'm gonna make a 1080P RPTV build.

^^^ Nice! I am still trying to figure out the "Start Trek" build. I think that if I redesign for a 7 inch widescreen I can make it work.

It's Bayer Cherry Cobler.
It took 3 gallons of paint to go from a white wall to that color.
Windcalmer
I am gonna guess that you had it white before? Or did it just not cover that well?

Yeh, I thought I wouldn't need primer cause it was a small room. I figuered 1 gallon would have been enough.

Hey, I was just about to get a PS3 when I thought. Can the PS3 output 720p in a 4:3 aspect ratio?
Anyone know?
