I enjoy when I start off the day getting a text from a friend who has been on the road 36 hours non-stop and the first thing she wants to do when she gets back home is take me out to breakfast. Then ending the day getting another text from another friend who you've been worried about, telling you you've made a genuinely good impact in their life.

Yesterday was a good day!

I enjoyed this.

As far as the Oprah thing, I've seen her show once and forget she's a volatile topic for some. Edited to keep it all sunshine and kittens here. wink.gif

I love the smell of meat on the grill.

I love the feel of a long laquered brush handle, a seamless steel ferule, and the act of laying down paint.

I love the light quality on the trees in the afternoon and cloudless blue skies and rain clouds.

I love holding someone in my lap while swaying back and forth in a rocking chair.

I love having my hair full of wood shavings; the sweet smell of pine, the somber scent of cedar and the faint but clean smell of poplar.

I love lounging on a cold leather couch on a hot day.

I love playing with Tonka, a.k.a. "Attack Horse," the 8 month-old 105 pound puppy.

I love curling up in bed after a long day at work.

I love breezes when the air has been still for a long time.

I love the spray-back of the hose while watering plants.

I love hopping up on kitchen countertops and having relaxing conversation.

I love hugging someone shorter than me and having to bend down so they can wrap their arms around my neck.

I love reading a good book.

I love the feel of a man's unshaven face on my cheek.

I love going to the gym feeling rotten and walking back out sweaty but stoked. And along with that, I love the respect I get from other regulars when I'm working my legs. Reps of 12 at 400 pounds for my calves, that's right -- I'm a big, bad woman. wink.gif

I love writing in pen on a clean sheet of paper.

I love cooking something new.

I love sitting at the foot of my bed, tuning my guitar and just singing to myself.

I love to laugh.

I love to make others laugh.

I love.

My children - hands down.

...My eldest is quiet, and artistic. I love to watch him when he's in the middle of that creative, quiet concentration.
...My middle son is so energetic it wears me out just to watch him.
...My youngest is still a baby, but when I tickle him he's got a giggle so sweet it melts my heart.

I love to build. Projectors, Cars, computers, houses - It doesn't matter, really. The sweat of the build then the satisfaction of a job well done.

I love to ride. I haven't owned a Motorcycle in a decade, but I can still hear the hum of the motor. I recall when I first decided to get a bike. My best friend, a rider for years, was helping me pick out gear. I mentioned I wanted one of those helmet radios. He told me "You won't need it. The engine makes its own music, and you'll get off on the sound and the feel of the road." Truer words were never spoken.

I love flying. I love being around aircraft so much that I joined the Air Force to be around them more. Sadly I didn't get flight crew, but even being ground maintenance was a thrill.

I enjoy that little glance my wife gives me sometimes.

I love the smell of the leather of my tool belt, the soft scraping sound as the handle of a hammer is slid into the holster, finished with a clear metallic chime when head and ring connect.
I love brownie chunks stirred into frozen custard.
I love driving in the middle of the night when there is a full moon.
I love swimming. Either luxuriating in warm water or jumping into cold water with hoots and screams. When your lungs empty and shoot out a tingling to all your nerves. Oh yeah, good to be alive.
I love walks along the river, even if there are occasional snakes.
I love the first snow of the season, the whitewash of all the grey and brown after the leaves have fallen.
I love peeling and eating a ripe orange. The texture of the peel and the tiny snapping sounds as it’s pulled from the inner fruit.
I love to watch lightning.
I love to play Oblivion. I’ll have to admit there is something obscene that I’ve opted to not become a mage or archer. I want a sword and I want to hack daedra to death. Makes me think I might want to try some of the blunt weapons. Dull thud of smashing in bandit skulls. That might be fun. wink.gif
I love losing weight. It’s awesome every other month or so to take a batch of shirts to my Mom to have them taken in and to have pairs of pants in the closet that literally fall off me. (Yes, I keep them as trophies!)
I love traveling just about anywhere sunny, verdant and warm.

I love the rush that comes right after the heat from too many hot peppers in the hot wing sauce.

I love the feel of my car accellerating out of a corner.

I love the sensation of muscles pushed to their limits.

I love the satisfaction of solving a difficult problem or puzzle.

In general, I'm an adrenaline/endorphin junkie.
JPD
Coffee in the morning.

Sunlight through a forest on a cool fall day when the leaves have changed colour.

Hot tubing at night under the redwoods.

The stars as seen from my father's farm on a clear night. There are so many stars you can't even pick out the big dipper.

Pottering in my workshop in the evening after the heat of the day. The dust-motes dancing in the sunbeam through the window. There is nothing I have to do, I'm just pottering.

Working on a complicated problem which requires a simple yet creative solution.

Being out on the ocean with the feel of the sky above and the ocean beneath. It's the unpredictable nature of both that makes the moment memorable.

A cold beer after a long hard day working in the sun.

Sunday afternoon naps.

*** You know life is quite sweet. Thank you for reminding me about it.

I think it would make sense at this venture to turn this also into a "this is something hilarious" or "this is something awesome" that happened lately kinda thread.

I went to a concert last week, Andrew Bird, and I went with my brothers, sister-in-law, niece and nephew. Ri, my niece, is three and my little buddy. Her dad listens to Bird a fair amount and Ri even has "her song" that he sings. It was an outdoor venue and we were off to a side that was more conducive to small children. When her song came on, Ri wanted to get nearer the stage. She, her mom, and I got close and Ri opted to sit on my shoulders since I'm 6 inches taller than her mom. Once up there, she sang and shouted, "It's my song!" I danced some with her up there and she laughed. It was fun. I forget what it must be like to have so many things be new and so exhilirating. But I do like that it's contagious.

I went to a concert last week,

Speaking of which...

I went to a concert just after 4th of July weekend, to see Rush. It was about the 12th time I recall seeing them over the past 25 years or so...

It was Great ! Geddy's voice was the best i've heard in a long time. It was a fairly small venue as well. (Mohegan Sun down in CT)

Went with my younger brother who I haven't hung out with for a long time. (at least for a non-family event)

I also enjoyed some very good beer and some of the best chicken wings i've ever had prior to the concert.

All in all, a great evening.

I enjoy:

go'in slow (as in Rock Crawling) and getting really dirty in my Jeep... biggrin.gif

Sunrise's and Sunsets...

The smell of the air after a thunder storm...

waking up to the smell of breakfast cooking over a camp fire...

playing "hide and seek" in a grove of Redwood trees...

watching snowflakes as big as my hand float down from the sky...

I finally broke down and went to the optometrist last week 'cause I could tell my contact prescription was off. This was the sweetest vindication after finding some grey hairs and letting myself feel "uneasy" about turning 29 later this year -- my eyes are "less impaired" than they have been in about 7 years. My contacts were actually too strong. Hells yeah!
