He guys, I’m going to start (re)building my beamer again!
2 years ago I made my beamer and had some good times. But no I moved to a own house and I want to get my beamer over there.

  • 15" Optic set
  • 1 x Fresnel 220
  • 1 x Fresnel 330
  • 1 x cm reflector 70mm
  • 1 x triplet 320mm
  • 1 x UV/Heat glass.
  • 15” TFT Screen
  • FFC Cable
  • FFC Connector
  • Electronics
  • 3 x Fans 80MM.
  • HQI 400Watt Bulb

I would like to hear your opinion about the distances for the bulb/screen/triplet etc, and if the "tuning" systems are good to go. I think they are...

What way will I get the most light out of my box? Choice 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5? Im not sure about the depth (20mm) of the bigger reflector so it might be deeper.

List of things to do.
  1. Check the materials.
  2. Get the anti-glare of my screen.
  3. Make a design for the box.
  4. Focusbox for triplet.
  5. Ajusting method for the bulb/reflector.
  6. Design a lightbox.
  7. Draw a frame for TFT.

So I made some drawings of stuff I want and soon I’m going to make a proper one for the complete box.
But first I need to come up with a lightbox etc, bulb/reflector moving system, the whole works.

Now I can get a 100mm reflector instead of my 70mm reflector, its a bit bigger will I get more light out of my beamer cause the way it is now I think its too dark.

Okay guy's. Got a little update on the work, made a small layout of the box. (not going with a haas design though).

I’m trying to make a setup that can be adjusted a lot! But I don’t know where to put these "adjust zones".
On my beautiful drawing you see 2 blue boxes. In the first box the first and second Fresnel can be adjusted, and the TFT screen. In the second blue box I can move the triplet.

The two purple bars are the holders for the Fresnel’s, they are about 10mm width. In the middle is the TFT screen, of course.

Here is a close-up from the "tuner" system I’m making in the beamer.
Im going to make a small hole in the side (or top) of the box. Through that will stick a small piece of metal what enables me to move the Fresnel/tft screen forward or backward. To tighten it i'll use some screws.
Prolly going to make the frames on a sliding mechanism.

Soon some picture's instead of talk and (bad drawings wink.gif).

Here is the drawing I made for the frames I’m making for the Fresnel’s. Looks simple, what it is.
The blue box is the Fresnel, the brown bars is the (wooden) frame. Which will be made of 3mm MDF, I’m making it clamp and put 4mm width wood in between which will support the Fresnel.

The purple bars are a piece of metal, it will stick out the box through the "tuner" system. So I can move it a bit, at the ends will be some screws to tighten it.
The little grey bars on the top and bottom will be the slides in which the frame will be put to slide more easy.

I also cleaned up this topic, a bit useless to keep making new posts wink.gif. And even made a name for the beamer, I'm calling it, The Slider!

Again a small update with some pic's I made. Its for closure one the railing system on the side of box.

As you can see the box can flip 90 degrees. This way I can easy move the bolts + wire and then close it so no light comes out of the box.
I also decided to go with the measures I took. And last, thingstodo part has been updated with some more detailed stuff.

Today I'm going to make my triplet focus box, should not be that hard.

//edit. Small update on my fresnel frame's. The idea with the slides is still here, I expanded it with some foam!

The green bars your see are small pieces of foam, why you ask? Well I think that in the system I am using I need a small gap between the frame and box. Otherwise it won’t slide (smooth). I think if I use foam I can fix this and keep the light from coming sideways.

//edit2. (god, love short work days!). I've been looking into my "layout" again and I saw (what I think) is a flaw. In my first layout I didn't add the distance between the fresnell's and screen and some other things. I did now and should have a better setup.
Also added a "box in box" focus system for the triplet. I think its going to be on rails and screws like the frames.

What do you guys think?

Okay, again on the drawing board today. Getting near completion!
I've updated almost all my drawings, here they are.

Here is my fresnell frame again, added the good measures (or at least how far I got them). Need to know how much the distance will change with the rails. I’m not sure on how big they are.

Here is the drawing of the side panel. Pretty simple. The blue bar is the part I will cut out for the sliding/focus system of the lenses and TFT.

Here is my layout again. Final part I guess... also a part for the focus box for the triplet.

And here is my last drawing for tonight (it's almost midnight 00:00 here). It's a very simple one of the size for the front and back panel.

So today I've been doing some calculating. Hopefully I can start sawing etc Friday!
So for today/tomorrow 10/08/08 in any case, I want to make a frame for the TFT screen. I'm not sure how big it will be etc, so the drawings above will change again.

Okay, here we go! Final design on me fresnell frame and tft frame. Got some 4mm MDF wood and some sawing machines! Vrum!
