Here was my test on the PixelWorks compatibility :

Here's the official results. Boy that was a LOT of testing. blink.gif

This thing is AWESOME. It literally handled everything I threw at it with flying colors except one noted below.

Here's what I tested.

Upconverting Dvd Player.
Component - 480p/720p/1080i/1080p. Everything perfect.
HDMI - 480p/720p/108i/1080p. Everything perfect.
VGA - 640x480/800x600/1024x768/1280/720/1280x1024. Everything perfect.
HDCP worked fine with HDMI.

Dish Network Vip-622
Component - 480p/720p/1080i/1080p. Everything perfect.
HDMI - 480p/720p/108i/1080p. Everything perfect.
HDCP worked fine with HDMI. (If it is enabled on this player, some say yes, and some no)

Xbox360 with Hd-Dvd Player
Component - 480p/720p/1080i/1080p. Everything perfect.
VGA - 640x480/800x600/1024x768/1280x720/1280x768/1280x1024/1920x1080. Everything perfect except 1280x720, it would not sync just garbled lines. Weird.

HP Pavilion 9260nr with HD-Dvd Player
VGA - Every Resolution worked perfect with no overscan/underscan
HDMI - Every Resolution worked perfect with no overscan/underscan
HDCP worked fine with Hdmi

PS3
Component - 480p/720p/1080i/1080p. Everything perfect.
HDMI - 480p/720p/108i/1080p. Everything perfect.
HDCP worked fine with HDMI.

Wii
Component - 480i/480p . Worked Perfect.

*NOTE* This controller would not work with my 1.25 A power supply. I had to use a 3A power supply to get it to work. But that was with a backlight inverter. So it should take less without the backlight inverter.

Overall I was VERY impressed with this controller. Sd and HD looked pretty darn good.
1:1 worked perfect. It has a 4:3 setting, a 16:9 setting, and a 16:10 setting plus the 1:1 setting.
Also this controller had 3 games built in like snake smile.gif

I have updated the pictures. You can see that the controller scales 16:9 correctly.

The rest of this thread can be used for questions and techincal support.

Johnzo1995,

have a quick question for you about the PixelWorks controller board: What is the difference between the one listed for the 15.4 WUXGA Kit and the one for the 7.2 Sharp kit? I notice that the PixelWorks board for the 7.2 has (2) inputs each for HDMI and component while the PixelWorks board for the 15.4 kit has only (1) input each for HDMI, component and composite. Are they interchangeable? With my space limitations, I'm leaning towards the 7.2... just curious to know if one PixelWorks board is better than the other....

Thanks,

David

Both of those Pixelwork controllers are manufactured by different factories, thats why they look different. Both have the same PW processor. The controllers are not interchangeable. If a controller is programed for the 7.2, it will not work for any other screen size.

The Pixelworks is a rock solid processing chip, the ones I have have 128 MB of memory it can handle 1080p very well.

Hey johnzo,
I'm about to order a kit from you, but I had a few questions.
1) Where are these shipping from? I'll make my decision on shipping speed depending on the location. I assumed they were from NY, but I added NY as my state and it didn't add any sales tax, so I'm not sure.
2) The specs seem to conflict. The ones on the site are for the Toshiba panel,

Manufacturer: Toshiba
Model Number: XX
Size: 15.4"
Screen Architecture: WUXGA (1900 x 1200 Pixels)
Contrast Ratio: 350:1
Timing: 35ms full on/off

but it says it's a Samsung kit ("15.4 Samsung Kit w/ Pixelworks (WUXGA)").
The specs listed in this thread are much better than those listed for the Toshiba (500:1 contrast, 25ms on/off...)
I also remember you used to have 3 different kits listed, and now have only one. I assumed that it's because the Samsung was the best kit, and you just stopped stocking the others. Is that correct, or are you just shipping random LCDs with each kit now? Or is there just an error in the tech specs for the kit, and it really does come with the (better, it seems?) Samsung panel?

3) are these anti-glare or glare-type screens? You don't have to do an AG removal for a glare-type screen, do you? or is there still a cover of some kind?

Thanks for your time,
look forward to doin' business with you.

2. The samsung kit is the one avalible, I will correct the specs.
3. The screens are glossy.

johnzo, I looked over the specs and had a few questions for you. I am looking to take an lcd kit and stick it into a gutted laptop chassis to create a portable control terminal. I am especially interested in your 15.4 Samsung Kit w/ Pixelworks (WUXGA) and also the (MST WSXGA version). I was curious:

1.) what are the screens measurements (height, width, depth, and weight including the mounting chassis on the outside)?
2.) Does the kit come with everything needed to plug in a desktop PC and play (assuming it was installed in some type of enclosure)?
3.) I saw the supported resolutions. What is the maximum refresh rate that it will support at the mentioned resolutions?
4.) The title lists it as a Samsung but under technical specs it lists manufacturer as Toshiba, which is correct?

Thanks in advance for the information.
