Hi there. This is my first real projector build. I plan to log all the steps i take along the way (hopefully not too many screwups) . So anyway, FINALLY, after 6 or 7 weeks my parts from crazychen arrived today. Looks like they made it all in one piece. I purchased from him a 450mm FL triplet, two freznels, a 15.4" WXGA laptop panel and video controller / remote with PS. I have a few questions to ask you guru's out there. firstly, the back of the panel i received from crazychen has what i could best describe as a "mirror" kind of film across the back of it. Is this normal? Also, I want to keep things simple for this build, so i want to go with a standard shaped box. I had thought of purchasing one of these [EDIT: Violates LL policy]. I was thinking, since they come with a few extra bits and pieces, it would be quite cheap and hopefully i could modify it to make it longer to suit the focal length of my lens, Anyway, any suggestions welcome as I will need some guidance from the more experienced builders for this project. Cheers. I've attached some pics of the parts that arrived today aswell.

WXGA is not true 1080P. Was the WXGA a mistype, did you mean WUXGA? Just hope you didn't buy the wrong LCD kit.

Regarding the reflective layer:

Some peel off in 2 layers with no residue.

Some peel off in 2 layers and leave a lot of glue.

Some must be water soaked for 4 hours for each layer.

You won't know till you try.

It may come up like Philw's strip of his 10.6 (pictures).

However, it might be best if you contact the seller for advice.

Yeah sorry that was a spelling mistake. I meant WUXGA. I'm a little bit disapointed with that film still being on there as crazychen offered me a free removal service but the lcd arrived like that...... hmm...... Anyway, back to thinking about enclosures.

Yeah, it was supposed to include a AG strip and a new polarizer. That didn't happen obviously. Im a bit unhappy with his service since I was quoted 5 days to ship after payment. It actually ended up being 6 weeks + no free strip. These things happen when you buy online I guess. Its not like I can go for a drive and quiz him about it.

EDIT: Since contacting Chen about my issues, he has been a PLEASURE to deal with. It turned out to be my mistake anyway. He has provided better service than I would get from anyone in Australia anyway....... Thumbs up to Chen smile.gif

shure ya can, though the bridge over the pacific can be a bit tricky at times. ohnoes.gif rolleyes.gif seriously though the mirror layer was easy, hell even I did screw it up. laugh.gif as for the ag, leave it for now just get the pj working and see how you fare - you might not want to risk it eh? There is also polishing it.
