The goal: To build an attractive HI-DEF projector that is both smaller and lighter than my first build(which measured in at a little over 16" x 15" x 32" of 3/4" MDF...)

Should i go 720 or 1080? That is the question...

Budget: $500-$700 (Not counting beer money... Every good PJ build has beer !!!)

Thoughts so far:
1.) thinking about building an aluminum frame and either thin gauge steel or aluminum sheeting for the 'skin' around the frame... this should really cut down on weight...

2.) Mini-Box in a Major-box is an awsome focussing mechanism...

3.) plan to make the 330mm fresnel able to rotate on its axis... might use a sloted, centrally located dowel in a hole? maybe a glass door hinge?

4.) Fire bad... fans good... or was it the other way around?

5.) will scavenge parts from computer PSU's i have laying around to power this thing...

6.) might use a cheap computer PSU to power the fans and such...

7.) 1 time i thought i was looking through a fresnel... turns out i had way too much to drink...

8.) 1 time i thought i was driving...
turns out i was drunk and playing NFS: Most Wanted on my home brewed Projector... i wrecked my fake Supra and a fake cop gave me a fake ticket... I then had to pay several fake fines and they put my fake Supra in a fake impound lot.... however this really did suck...

Bad news for you the medium base socket is NOT what you need. You need a mogul base its quite a bit larger than a medium base socket.
