I've been trying to source some of the parts locally as shipping costs and customs duty will increade the cost of the project quite dramtically. LCD Panels are definately non existant here, so my only option is LCD monitor or panel from an old laptop. Can a normal overhead projector be used? All of them have the A4 sized top fresnel but they have a small collimater, very similar to the top projection lense. Can this be used?

Did you write lumenlab and ask for a shipping quote? You could use some overhead components for a project like this if you are creative. The image would not be what it could be with the lumenlab lens system.
