i was talking with one of the custer support people at LL today about this, he said it sounded like a great idea... but i should maybe go to the forum with it...

anyway... its really pretty simple, it would be compatible with 14"-17" widescreen displays

consisting of a 220mm fresnel a 317mm (or 330mm) fresnel and the standard s15 triplet

i can see several advantages to Lumenlab stocking a kit like this:

1.) I could purchase them from Lumen Lab (instead of some random 'hack job' DIY projector website)

2.) Those of us that currently have a s15 based straight thru style projector, and would like to upgrade to widescreen could reuse some of our optics we already have...

3.) there are several 15.4" screens that people would love to use if they could afford suitable optics... however using the pro fresnels with the s15 triplet makes for a short throw setup, sometimes this is good, usually its just annoying(gets in the way of view)

so is any1 interested?

Umm you can't use the Pro fresnels with a S15 triplet.

strange i have read that it has been done but simply was not a good idea... either way the point still remains... i would like a cheaper way to use the widescreens...

I actually just emailed them before the site went down about getting a custom size fresnel for the 15.4 WUXGA screens - I've had "issues" cutting mine. I've determined the best size to be 270mm x 360mm for my setup (although the best "universal" size for that particular LCD would be about 25mm larger than the LCD, or about 360mm x 247mm - not sure why mine is taller).

I was actually sent this in response to a quote request:

Hello Brent,
The price is FOB Nanjing USD7.89/pc, 360x270mm, thickness 2mm, fl 650mm.
The express charge is USD260 from Nanjing to your door.
The total price of 100pcs is USD1049 include the express charge from Nanjing to USA.

The 220mm focal length lens is not available as the mold is damaged.

So LL could acquire them for $10.50 per and turn a decent profit (assuming they sold it at the standard $25 for the pro focal length). Or maybe they would let us do a group buy, or Johnzo could get some to go with his LCDs. Or a slightly higher price could be negotiated for a smaller amount.

Count me in.

I was just about to buy a set of fresnels from 3dlens and get my s15 triplet from lumenlab. This is for a 15.4 / s15 set up. Since it's for a rptv 60" conversion the short throw widescreen combination is perfect. If lumenlab is going to stock them, then count me in.

I went ahead and purchased lumenlab pro 220 fresnel and their S15 lens. I'll purchase my front fresnel from another source.
Where available I will always source from lumenlab, but we can't expect them to be all things to all people.
