I'm generally not one to use a screensaver on my PC, but I came across this pretty cool Dream Aquarium screensaver.

Dream Aquarium is a next-generation aquarium screensaver that brings the beauty of a lush freshwater aquarium to your computer with unsurpassed realism.

On the product site, they have a free demo download and a Quicktime movie that:

shows off the amazingly realistic behavior and motion of Dream Aquarium's inhabitants. These are not real fish! They are 100% computer generated fish doing everything that real ones do - pecking at objects in the tank, eating food, chasing each other, swimming amongst the plants, hanging out in schools and enjoying life!

The fish and scenery are not too cartoon-ish. I find myself sitting and watching this thing with my (mock-up) projector. It's quite relaxing. I can't wait until they add more features.

me too but but I am using this screensaver under linux emulated with wine as well. It's great, runs very nice and looks natural.

check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTw09EHuk7c

dreamaquarium under linux with all the fancy beryl effects, this guy even managed to let dreamaquarium run as a wallpaper behind his icons and stuff.

@Quasi_Mogo you might be interested in the "game" aqua vita for the Playstation 3. Afaik it's available through the PS Store. Basically it's just a screensaver like dreamaquarium but it can detect your movements via Eye Toy Camera and fishes will react to it.
must be pretty neat on a projector.

I use to have an old macintosh which I converted into an aquarium and kept at work. Now thats a real fish screen saver.

I just downloaded the demo of the Dream Aquarium screensaver.

A neat thing is that with my gforce video card I have a 3D option. The screen saver showed up in 3D. Now of course my monitor won't support nvidia 3D with the polarized glasses so I have to use the crappy red and blue ones, but its still pretty neat.

Nice, I've had an older type of aquarium screensaver before but this really impressive. The options were really broad too.
