Do you lose Quality in your projected images when mirroring?
Quasi_Mojo
Each mirror or piece of glass in the light path will decrease brightness. How much depends on how many layers and what the layers are composed of.

Thanks Mojo. So it is best for the projection image to not be mirrored. If anyone would please, answer these posts:

read through the plogs, you'll find all the pics you can look at. Also its not "best" for the image to be mirrored its best - if you need to mirror - to use the best quality and the right kind of mirror. apples and oranges here. do your needs require a vertical or a straight through design? etc.

as far as the "guts" you just going to have to read through the plogs, as there are 100,000 ways each depending on the inventiveness ( or admittedly copying skill) of the enclosure builder.

I do not think you notice any difference if you use a high quality first surface mirror positioned correctly.

I tried a 3 mm thick first surface mirror and got some distortion, later I glued it to MDF with spray adhesive...still had a little bit of distortion.

Finally, I got a 6.4 mm (1/4") first surface mirror and I do not have any noticeable distortion

Yes you do loose lumens, the best front surface mirrors are only 96% or close to that, reflective so you will loose 4% which is noticed at the projection screen.

post one: depends on what you are attempting to do or achive

post two: Vacuum forming will be case specific depending on what LCD used with controller board. I would reccomend using standoff blocks for mounting screws to plastics. Proto typing will be needed. smile.gif
