I am looking for some cheap fans that move alot of air with a low db.
Actually it is not for a PJ, but didn't know where to ask.(Mods move if needed)
It will be for a canopy for an aquarium containing MH lighting.

I searched, but didn't find any results.

Thanks guys.

Wouldn't you be better off asking this question in an aquarium-related forum? There could be variables that we, non-aquarium owners, wouldn't know about.

Here's a Google search: +aquarium +fan +"low db"

Well, who better to ask about quiet fans than the knowledgeable folks here?
There should not be any special factors for aquarium use.
I know more people here are interested in the quietest fans possible, and that's what I am looking for.
Thanks for the link.

Anyone have any suggestions??

I'm sure the db level would be about right, but the air flow seems a little lacking.

Just some comparisons for you:

Rice Krispies popping and crackling ... 30 dBA
Soft whisper ... 40 dBA
Average Voice ... 50 - 60 dBA
Vacuum ... 80 dBA
Hair Dryer ... 80 dBA

search for evercool pcac. these fans are (based on specs) about the best cfm to dba ratio.

I'm using an Evercool PCAC in my projector. If you decide to go this route, you might want to place something between the PCAC and the light enclosure to help dampen the vibrations. You can use weatherstripping, thin silicone material (think silicone baking pan) or maybe even felt.

I see you're in Whitt, Tx which is about 80 miles away from Carrollton, TX (suburb NW of Dallas). Tanner Electronics has tons of salvage electronic equipment including an array of 12VDC and 110 VAC fans. I got all my fans there and they will power them up for you to test the output and noise level. Their website doesn't have a catalog since their inventory is so fluid, but you should be able to find a fan (that is, if you're in the area). www.tannerelectronics.com.

Usually, West Texas gals make semi-annual pilgramages to Big D to shop and their boyfriends/husbands are in tow.
