Can I use <insert controller here> with <insert LCD panel here>? This is a case-by-case issue. Generally, the controller needs to be programmed to work with the specific LCD. Just because one controller works with that screen does not mean that another one will, since it depends on the firmware. The person who sold you the controller should have given you a list of the LCD panels that it will work with. If your LCD is not on that list you should assume that it will not work.
