Hey!

I don't know if there is any way to get rid of the "hot wood"-smell, but I just have to ask. Is there any way? smile.gif

Depends on whos complaining ,,,,,, If it is your wife, then place a small drop of vanilla extract on theeeeeeee. Awe heck use some flashing at the hot spots bend the ends so you have a small gap between the metal and wood.

Hehe, good one. Nah, it's not a big deal: I was just qurious because I have this small room, and after severel hours of use, the hot wood makes the air thick. Hehe wink.gif But eventually I will move the PJ to another room when the room get finished.

Does you/anyone know if heat protective spray works for this, or will it smell the same?

I'd personally follow o2it2's suggestion and put in some flashing (aluminum foil or a disposable pie/baking tin from the supermarket works) to protect the wooden parts which are obviously being overly heated. It's possible some kind of protective coating may work but flashing spaced slightly away from the wood is far and away the preferred method IMHO.

Just put a rotisserie in there with a cornish game hen.
Durachko
Since Sub has gotten the ball rolling did you make your case from cedar, hickory, or mesquite? tongue.gif

A couple of these laid inside your box should do you good.

I actually like the smell of burning wood...before the smoke stage anyway. maybe i should remove some of my protective aluminium and have myself a homemade projector/air freshner tongue.gif

If you bought johnzo's lightbox, the "silvered" dish is suppose to be mounted to the top of the lightbox. You simply add some water and a drop of aromatic oil to it before turning it on.

Don't forget to read the fine print that says: Must have fire extinguisher nearby for best results.

when you put the flashing in, make room for a couple hotdogs to cook while your watching the movie. biggrin.gif

Ahh, remember when the mantra on this forum used to be "Keep it Disney!"? I think we've evolved (devolved?) to "Keep in Cinemax". wink.gif

edit: or maybe "Keep it Cartoon Network Adult Swim"?

I don't think that it will work , I think it will still smell like hot. Anyways.. Doesn't matter.

Hey Mortex.

That "Hot Wood" smell will diminish with time. Not sure what "wood" you are using, but MDF takes a little while to get rid of that smell... just the "timber" de-gassing wink.gif wink.gif laugh.gif

No worries with your choice of where to post. It's US screwing with your post that's the "problem". smile.gif

I really think you should be able to reduce some of the smell by proper use of flashing but it's your choice as to whether you wish to pursue a solution.

Sorry for turning your topic into playground. sad.gif

Best,
