I bought an HD camcorder just before last christmas. it's 1080, 24p capable. to my surprise, when captured into my computer it reports it as 1440x1080. ?? hmmmm.... so... as i've learned it's that the signal is an "anamorphic" HD signal, with a 4:3 (1.333) PAR (pixel aspect ratio)... (vs. a 1:1, or square PAR). multiply 1440x1.3333 = 1920x1080.

same maybe true for what your transcoder is doing ? 960x1.33333 = 1280x720 ??

HTH.

Hmm that is very interesting I never heard of such a thing. I am using a standard 15" and it letterboxes the top and bottom for a widescreen effect, but if you say I am getting 720P out of my 15" I am happy with that wink.gif
