Ive needed to replace my polarizer for quite some time now, and my friends want to watch a movie on it this saturday but the diagonal lines tick me off. I have the replacement but im not sure how best to replace it...Can i just strip the old one off, then replace it while its powered up with a light under it. Then just turn it till i get the best picture and stick it down. Or is there a better way?

Polarizer Replacement

Google search of the LL Forum: site:lumenlab.com replace OR remove +polarizer

maybe im not seeing it, but i dont need to know how to remove the old one. I have the non-adhesive polarizer, how do i keep it in place? The side that needs to be replaces is facing the lamp. (though, i have enough polar to replace both sides). How can i mount it. Im not seeing that in that thread. Could be because im tired, but idk.

For a simple method, just tape it on the the lamp side of the LCD. Don't attempt to use any type of adhesive on the polar, itself.

Here's a variation of the above Google search: site:lumenlab.com +attach +polarizer

Hmm, ok ill give that a try. I was debating weather or not to tape it on. I wasn't sure if the heat would just make the adhesive come off, but its worth a try.

perhaps i spoke too soon, but the polar doesn't want to come off as easy as i thought. The rag soaking method should work with this right? With the glass being right underneith the length of time soaking shouldn't matter correct?

edit: its also been awhile since i did the AG removal, at this point, does it NEED to be distilled water?

ok, nevermind, i did the water soak for a good 6 hours. It was a little tough, but with the help of a razerblade i got it all off. The adhesive was a PITA though, had to scrub with acetone for almost an hour lol tongue.gif but, its all cleaned up and working nicely with the new polar. I didn't realize it at first, but my new polar was adhesive, so i just put it on the lexan shield. If i get adhesive problems ill order the non-adhesive one, but for now its working great.
