the * being some kind of lightsource (With ventilation etc).
Now, how would one go about making something like this? How would you focus it? Would it be a matter of using a triplet to make the light paths cross above the panel or something? A huge-ass fresnel on the underside of the glass to focus? bear in mind I'd like this to be a usable table as well as a projected surface.
One or two other people have done this, but they've used regular projectors from some distance away, with a large mirror underneath the table to reflect it up (And using white paper or something similar to project onto). The problem with this is that people can still get in the way of the light-path, and the mirror is liable to being kicked by untamed legs.
