I have been experimenting with a 250 watt powerball 3200k temp version and I must say I am suprisingly impressed with the results. I know my opinion is entirely subjective however after a few tweeks to the hami panels RGB I feel that the colours are better than what I had with the philips 150 watt CDM 4200k I was using. The brightness a bit brighter than the CDM with a condensor (I have yet to put the condesnor back as it had to be striped to accomodate the different socket type) and I was able to lower the gamma which I had to up quite a bit in order to get a decent picture. I am sure with the condesor back in place it will be even more brighter. The white is a tiny bit yellow but I can live with that for now at least until the 4200k version becomes readily available in the UK. My box is much more hotter now that I dont feel comfortable leaving it on when nobody is in the room.

I'm glad you tried the new lamp.

It's always nice someone is willing to take the leap of faith ohmy.gif

Just turn the red down in the LCD controller and your color balance should be fine.

Do you have any screenies?

What's the stats on that bad boy.
Length, diameter, arclength, output and lifetime. A pict would be nice.

Ill post some pics soon. I must admit getting a satisfactory white was quite difficult with this lamp. However I did get good whites using Apple OSX advanced color calibration. I had to lower the red and green of the controller quite substantially though....i guess this will rob me of some light.

Unfortunately the xbox 360 looks horribly dark still using the 250 watt. Some games like Mass Effect don't offer gamma option which makes them unplayable. Unless the 360 will get a gamma update it looks like I am still hunting for more light...... Perhaps johnzos 12 inch panel will be my saving grace as I hear it lets a decent amount of light pass.

Have you considered the mighty 575w ceramic? While the heat is (from what I hear) pretty bad, it is known for giving off a heck of a lot of light. I'd like to hear how your project is coming anyway since I too am exploring the Powerball options.

I am seriously looking forward to switch from my current 250Watts Crompton Greaves (Indian multinational company)
Metal Hallide Lamp to OSRAM 250W POWERBALL.

(Info of crompton greaves at : http://www.cglonline.com/cg/avs/home/light...s/metalhalide/)

Any screenies of yours will be helpfull to decide on my costly affair of switching from Crompton Greaves to OSRAM.

Thanks in advance.

Could we know the reason?
Were you not satisfied with the LL PJ?

I am still looking for the outcome on the 250w Powerball lamps.

Is anybody using this lamp with success?
