I have a Optoma ep716 and the lamp is shot. The lamp is a UHP 200w-150w that sits in a rig that looks like it could be modified enough to just attach a halogen or xenon lamp. I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on this. Might this work or is catastrophic failure more likely?

I'm in the same situation, I have an NEC HT1000, replacement bulbs are worth $700, does anyone have any ideas on how else to do this?
