About a year ago I starter with my full HD project(or). Six months ago it was finished. I figured it’s about time to share it with the lumenlab community.

The machine:

100mm reflector (cold mirror)
400 watt double ended bulb (Cecla 400watt)
110mm condensorlens (FL=220mm)
UV/IR filter
220mm fresnel (0.5 pitch)
15,4 wuxga panel (samsung ltn154) / controller: vga, coax, component
630mm fresnel (0.5 pitch)
100mm pro triplet (FL=500mm) (not from lumenlab)
Sweat and blood

The reason I did not share it with the communities earlier was because I was a bit depressed about the slighty fuzzy corners which I couldn’t fix ( http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?s...st&p=253945 ). After all I think there is something wrong with my lamp, but at the moment I couldn’t care less: I’m enjoying the projector every day and it’s good for me now smile.gif.
Old log, it’s in dutch: http://www.dity.nl/forum/projector-dagboek...ga-project.html

Ok enjoy the pics. Thanks to those who helped me out those days…

Hmm what’s there..

Damn it’s a free cinema!

And computer room..
Screen resolution: 1280x1024; distance to screen: 2,5-3 meters; screen measurements 1,70x1 meter:

Here you can see the slightly fussy corners which got me out of balance in the earlier days.

You’ll find me in the middle..

There it is, with a ‘beerproof’ construction at the front (see previous pic)

HTPC

Right, he’s got planet earth in 720p….

Our planet

The famous birth scène, htpc killer!

Really strange bird…

Some more..(still have to watch 6 episodes)

Famous dutch movie (bad picture quality but you’ll get used to that)

COD4, that’s me:

That’s all folks!

Very nice.

I like the good clean look inside the projector. And nice results with those HD projections. post-418-1138467278.gif

I knew that something didn't look right!
No internal box wiring clutter.

So that's what this picture is:

It looks like you've got everything stored in the projector's base.
Very nice work and a very clean design. Aside from the blurry corners, it looks like you're enjoying it.
Tommy The Cat
@Jonjandran, good to receive positive feedback from the one which project has inspired me the most to start my own. Of course I’m referring to your first 1080p build.

@Quasi_Mojo, haha yes.. it was my very first intention to store only the necessary parts in the optical part of the projector. The foot/base provided the opportunity to store all the rest of the components.

I will illustrate it better. To complement the total picture, here is the behind of the inside of the base/foot, you can see the ballast. Above the ballast are the switches.

Here you can see how to access the ballast (at the bottom right of the picture). So.. this ballast provides a stable foot too as weight (ballast wink.gif ).

I’ve created two separate air flows to cool. Although this old drawing is not entirely accurate (I’m split for example), it does illustrate it quite well. Although the access hole from airflow A (from the base into the upper compartment) is now right next to the light box.

The compartment where the lamp is, is shut off from all the rest by a huge UV/IR filter. The lamp is cooled by 1 fan which really only cools the lamp (airflow A). The second fan cools the tft, fresnels, ballast and controller (airflow B ).

Some more illustration:

And yes indeed, I’ve enjoyed the build. It was also very usefull since I had no practial/construction knowlegde or experience at all. I learned a great deal, also some people never expected this practical/creative side of me (like my neighbour) so that earned me some sort of respect for that matter tongue.gif . It took me 7 months. At the end I was frustrated about the corners, I wanted it to be perfect. Being fully sucked into this project I took some time to distance myself from it. Now I can enjoy watching it without worrying about those corners anymore: it’s all good readable and in movies it doesn’t have any effect at all.

Very cool biggrin.gif Great work !
SIMUL8R
Impressive, a job well done all around smile.gif Just out of curiosity, how tall is that projection room because the stairs leading down to it in relation to the height of the door way doesn't seem to be that much of a distance.
Tommy The Cat
Thanks to both.

That's a keen eye there. It's indeed a small room, people taller than 1,70 meters have to really watch there head, especially when drink.gif . It's perfect suitable for three persons though once you've taken your place. In theory there could be two persons in the middle lying on the matrass, but than you'd have to be close wub.gif .

I must say you put a lot of thought into that design and have raised the bar for the rest of us with your results. I love the planet earth shots...outstanding!
It looks like you went with the un-split design. Do you recall what the spacing measurements between the internal parts were? (Lamp, lenses, LCD, etc.)

Well in the end I went split, because unfortunately I had some glowies while being unsplit. The design makes it very easy to switch between one and the other. The distance between fresnel - tft - fresnel is about 2 centimeters.

On the long run I plan to use a bulb with a smaller ARC. I'm curious what improvements this will result in.

Whence 110mm condensorlens (FL=220mm). WHAT is lenses condensor? In Russia not one lens does not maintain 400W. Where it is possible to buy them?

I really like your design! The idea to keep the wiring below decks make for a very clean light and projection chamber. Your screenies are excellent, especially the shots of the earth. That has to be awesome to watch. I can't wait to get my PJ up in the HD range. I am going to take a look at incorporating this dual chamber design in my current project. Great work!!!

It looks great, did you strip the LCD?

Hey man, nice to see it finally finished. excellent results as well!

Thanks daring. I couldn't find a plog of your design? Let me know if you get started smile.gif.

Thanks. Yes I did strip, pictures of that you can see in my build plog at a dutch forum:

Hey NN, it's been a while since I was active here but I remember being inspired by your unsplit design, although this didn't work out for me because of some glowies. But o what the hell, split has done it for me too smile.gif.

Still enjoying every week, especially now that so many movies are coming out full HD. Some day I will incorporate a small ARC bulb.
Tommy The Cat
Ooops.. double post drink.gif
linuxbox04
Did he say his projected screen size is 67" inches?
Quasi_Mojo
A 16:9 screen that's 1.7 meters x 1 meter equals about 69.7 inches x 39.2 inches with a diagonal measurement of 80 inches (2.03 meters).
It's a very small room, as you can see in the first picture of Post # 2.

Oh sorry thanks
