I was wondering if anyone knows if you have to have the guts of an overhead projector bulb to run this bulb. Or can i just buy a socket and plug it in.

you can just plug it in I used one for my 7" til it blew 175HRS so its not the greatest but no ballast is great, the color was okay. You will need a base unless you want to rig up something. I have some bases if youreally need one.

it was plenty bright but this was on my 7" I really liked it but disliked the 175 hrs so I just stuck one of those 50 watt in there that can be bought at any store it looks just like the OHP bulb but i got a free 12VDC ballast for it. I dont have a pic cuz I am at work sorry.

Could you send me a pic of the base. I might be interested in acquiring one.
