OK that's a pretty fancy way of asking if there are any members interested in painting a retractable screen. Why? you ask. To resurrect an old screen or change the color of a screen. This may be to cover a damaged or stained screen surface. Maybe you want to cover up an old glass bead screen. You may have gotten your hands on a gray screen and wish you had a bright white screen.

Painting retractable screens is really my niche and if there is some interest here I will start a thread to log the complete process as I go through the painting of my final screen.

It may be a week or more before I really get into this final project.

As soon as I get started I will post pictures of every step of the process.

It looks like I will be painting my outdoor screen when I get to it some day, it will be about 180 inches and I can't find any low cost material that is a good white. Some of the awing fabric hangs nice but are the wrong color.

It will be a little while before I start. laugh.gif

Definitely post up a tutorial if you can. I've wondered about this for a while and really haven't seen anything on it. Subscribed, and waiting for the good stuff (ie. Pictures!)

It will probably be a couple of weeks before I get back to this project. In the meantime you can look at this thread to get some idea of what is involved.

t'would seem that the link to such an excellent Thread would suffice. blink.gif

I'll vouch for this as being not just doable, but quite an exceptional way to realize more value and performance out of such screens than they could ever provide "out of the Box"...new or used. Lots of paint choices to choose from, but it's a appliccation that should be done as "told" not experimented with.

Such screens make a very good Pallet for your artistic DIY Screen endeavors.

Tiddler, may I post up a representation of a 135" Da-Lite Electric?
