The eVo was manufactured so that other parts could be swapped into it in a DIY fashion.
If LL is out of stock, and not back-ordered, then you can search online for a similar bulb.
I believe the eVo uses a 150W, single-ended bulb with a G12 base (verify by checking the manual or inquire in the eVo section of this Forum).
You'll want something with a high CRI rating (greater than 85) that produces a warm light with a color temperature of around 4200K.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide links to where you might find such a bulb, but a Google search should speed you on your way to a replacement.

The 1.2 lamps are 150W double ended lamps, which shouldn't be too hard to find. Just take a measurement of your existing lamp, and start searching.

Do they fit into an RX7S or Fc2 base?

I know it's not an FC2. I don't know the other base.

They don't really list any specs for that bulb and they don't provide a model number.
You might want to concentrate your efforts on a site that specifically sells bulbs and ballasts.
Just a quick note about aquarium supply stores; they usually don't stock bulbs in the color temperature range that we want. I visited several and was always asked what temperature range I was looking for (4200K) and was always told that they don't stock anything that great.
And as I stated before:

Try Googling using the following search words: 150W double ended RX7s ceramic metal halide
(I, personally, have a preference for the Ceramic bulbs)

http://www.atlantalightbulbs.com/ecart/10E...D.942.RX7SUSHIOThat's the bulb I went with for my DIY. Bought it from a different source, though.
That CMD/TD/942 bulb should fit your eVo and you should be pretty happy with it.
(I wish we didn't have to worry about providing links to possible competitors)
By the way, if you don't mind wiping elken2004's drool off your monitor, you can read all about this bulb type:

one more question, what were the specs for the evo lamps? because i thought there was more than 12.5k lumens in it....
lastly: whats better 12.5k lumens with 4200 color temp, or 14.5k with 3000 color temp?
SupraGuy
Mar 10 2008, 08:20 PM
I don't know what the lumen spec for the eVo lamps is, but 4200K colour is far superior to 3000K colour.
4200K is on the lower end of what I'd deem acceptable. The blues will be a touch weak in your projection, but it's something that you will easily adapt to.
3000K is way too low, and your colours will be noticeably yellow.
Jaddo
Mar 10 2008, 08:24 PM
so what your saying is that color's more important than lumens?
SupraGuy
Mar 11 2008, 04:05 PM
Both are important, but there's no point in having a lot of light that's the wrong colour.
But consider this. You know the HPS lights that they make street lights from? Very much yellow, but a lot of light/watt (Which is why they use them.) Imagine trying to use THAT for a projector...
There does come a point where it's just not worthwhile to use. I think that about 4000K is the lowest colour temperature that I'd want to use in a projector. That will produce a 'warmer' image. A 6500K will produce a 'cooler' image (Ironic that a higher colour temperature produces what we perceive as cooler colours) but that doesn't necessarily mean better. I had both in my projector, and didn't have all that strong a preference either way.
It's not like the 4200K lamp that you specified is DIM my any stretch of the imagination, and the colour will be much better, so I would recommend it as the better choice.

thanks for the replies, ill look into it.
anyways, i found a new projector to look at, tell me what you think...

I just got burned on a couple of Ushio lamps I bought being too long to fit in the 1.2 and the store is still reading out of stock. Anyone know if they'll ever come back in stock or perhaps has anyone who's found a confirmed suitable replacement?
SupraGuy

The 1.1 lamps fit in the 1.2 eVo, FWIW. They're a different style, so you need the 1.1 lamp holder as well, but they work.

As an owner of an EVO 1.2, I need to point out that the evo bulb DOES NOT fit an RX7S base. The RX7S bulbs are about an inch too large for the 1.2. It's possible that it could be modded, but it definitely isn't a drop in replacement. I went looking for RX7S bulbs based on this post, only to discover that they can't work.
I'm thinking of getting an RX7S base, and modding it into the 1.2. At least then I'd have a bulb that works. Other than that, I've no options. No one seems to know what kind of bulb the EVO uses. Lumenlab isn't talking, despite never having replacements in stock.
Overall, this is extremely disappointing. I've enjoyed my 1.2 for a number of months, but it turns out to be junk-tech. It's completely unsupported, and replacement parts can't be purchased.

I've got an eVo 1.2. I got a replacement lamp (with holder) for a 1.1. It works, no problem. Bolts right in, hooks up to the ballast, and fires right up. (Tried it last night specifically to respond to this thread.)
Ask 'em at LL sales, I'm pretty sure that they can add in the lamp holder for the 1.0/1.1 lamp. At least it's a solution, and it fives you double the options for replacing the lamp later.

I sent an email to lumenlab on the 3rd and haven't gotten a response yet. Both the 1.1 and 1.2 lamps are sold out. Any other ideas?
All the same, I suspect there may be a solution down this path. While researching the bulb, I recall someone mentioning the exact bulb and socket needed for the evo 1.0 and 1.1. If I can dig them up, I could buy both from a third party, then mod the mount. It sure beats building a new case for the Evo 1.2 (which I'd need to do to make it fit the larger rx7s bulbs).

You'd have to email them and see, but I recall them being about $120.
