Full Version: Make them motors turn!

Tell me I don't need an EE degree just to spew X,Y,Z coordinates to one of these CNC dealies!

I've been trying to figure this stuff out for myself, but I haven't been able to find a website that says "Here, take my hand, I'll guide you through this whole process; you have nothing to be afraid of."

I think I could decipher a circuit diagram if I really tried, but it wont be easy.

Should I just buy a pre-made stepper motor driver?
How much are they, where can I get 'em?
Are they kind of universal, or do I have to tediously match motors with drivers?
Should I ask to have my 2 new RoBLOKS threads moved to the DIY CNC forum?
brainchild
No problem. I'm going to offer low cost controllers, or there are many off-the-shelf controllers that you could use.

I'm in the process of constructing tutorials that cover nearly every aspect of operation. One of my primary goals with this project is to remove much of the "pain" of getting a project like this running. The use of a "standardized, modular system" for RoBLOKS means that I can "standardize" the software and hardware parameters, meaning you don't have to know every aspect of the programs. I want to deliver a product that is ready to run when you are done assembling, sparing you weeks of the agony of trail and error.
