Hello,

I'm from a german community and wondering why noone of u using the OSRAM 250W HSD or OMNILUX 250W OSD.

Here's the datasheet:

http://www.osram.com/_global/pdf/Professio..._HSD250-60e.pdf

The arc length is only 5mm so you get much more light through the lens. and the color temperature is very good (6000k).

Disadvantage is that it is expensive and only has 2000h lifetime.

There's a copy of the Osram bulb from Omnilux called OSD 250W :

250W - 22800lm - 6700k - 2000h - small arc - in europe it's 65€

can't find the datasheet at the moment

for me thats the best lamp for diy beamer.

That is why.

For the bulb price you might as well use a 575 watt HMI.

Much brighter (49,000 lumens vs 18,000 lumens).
Almost the same arc size (7mm vs 5mm)
And about the same price $80 vs $80

Only difference is bulb life 1000 hrs vs 2000 hrs.

But if you use the 575 watt in low lamp mode (400 watt) you should get around 2000-3000 hour lamp life and still get around 37,000 lumens.

but 575W would mean too much power consumption for me =)

in europe energy is very expensive ^^

but i know you americans don't care about our biggrin.gif

If you're insinuating that Americans don't care about money you're sorely mistaken!

-- just kidding, I know you meant we don't care about the environment. Unfortunately you're mostly right about that.

But I must say: "I have a projector" and "I'm environmentally conscious" are virtually contradictory statements.

Well then my 2000 watt lamp just might be some kind of crime soon.

No I'm not kidding. First they get everyone to "care" then they change the law.

The incandescent light bulb has been baned in the USA starting in 2012!

How long it will take the "save the world" crowd to get to PJ lamps? Think smoking, Whats a big picture but showing how much money you have anyhow.

PJ's are like SUV for video!

Maybe they will just let us off the hook with a nice big carbon tax. sad.gif

Nice lamp by the way. There is also a 300 watt in the same price range. Many of us are still waiting for the 250 watt ceramic to come out which is more efficient and way longer life.

Most american SUV owners have them because they just want to be up higher and in a larger vehicle, because it makes them feel stronger or more like what society says is a "real man" or a "strong woman" somehow. I have literally been laughed at by a guy my age because I drive a civic and he drives an f-250 with the double rear wheels, the bigger exhaust, raises suspension, and the wider wing mirrors. He doesn't even have a trailer hitch on it, nor has he ever put more weight than a couple of frat boys in the tray. Of course, I was laughing when I sped past him with my higher torque : weight ratio while I thought about the ridiculous cost of both his vehicle itself and all the extra gas he buys to drag it's oversized chrome covered body around the streets of atlanta to the small parking spaces and narrow roads where everybody hates him because he ruins the streets for everyone else.

Most people who buy or make projectors do so to have a better movie watching or gaming experience with larger groups of friends, and only use the extra size and power when it will actually add to the experience. They don't use projectors when they will piss everyone else off, they don't use them when a small tv is far better suited to the task. The extra power used by our projectors is directly related to the extra enjoyment we get. SUVs use more resources at every stage of production and use and offer nothing more to most drivers.

Having a PJ is like having an SUV as an secondary vehicle, only for use when you need to move 7 people or when you're going off-roading.

Do you know that you just said "ridiculous cost of both his vehicl"

Do you really care how much money someone spends on their autos? There is a name for that and it not a complement.

No no. Don't get me wrong. I don't care how much he spends. I just find it funny that he spent literally 4 times as much as me because of how he wants society to see him.

What's the non-complement name by the way?
Ibanez
orrrr he has a family and a family cant sit comfortably in a civic.........thus the reason why the SUV was made
