I have not built any projectors but have been following the boards for awhile. I am considering buying two EVO 1.1 units. Does anyone know how easy it would be to buy replacement ballasts if that becomes necessary? Why would so many of these have had bad ballasts to begin with? Any advice on the advisability of a newbie taking this on?
Thanks....

Well a new replacement ballast would be as easy as this :

Unfortunately, the Chinese manufacturer was less than scrupulous about the quality control. LumenLab WAS, however, scrupulous about the warranty they offered on the product, so there is a large pile of returns in the LL warehouse.
If you buy a new ballast, that'll be warrantied as well, so no need to worry. Do a little work for yourself, and take a little chance on an untested unit, and you will likely have a decent little projector.

Thanks for the quick replies. I guess I didn't look close enough at the store offerings for ballast. This gives me quite a bit of confidence to move forward.
