Hello to all ,
I want to change my lamp 150W with led-matrix . I like to use 10 mm led with 280.000 mcd viewing angle 40° .
What is the best choice ???

- 280.000 mcd with 40°
- 255.000 mcd with 30°
- 150.000 mcd with 20°
- 130.000 mcd with 12°
................................

My lcd is 8.4 lilliput without antiglare.... ph34r.gif

Thank's for all...

PS: sorry my english i'm italian ohnoes.gif

You want to use the 130,000 with 12 degree output. The smaller the output the more light is collected at the triplet.

Good luck.

As phutton said, of those choices the 12º - 130,000 is probably the best choice.

Why?
The LCD is only clear from certain angles; most people say the limit is about 6º off axis (6 degrees from straight) so 12º total is about right. Also, light that does make it through the LCD is also limited to 6º because it will not reach the triplet (I would imagine this angle is dependent on the size of the LCD and the focal length of the field fresnel, so 6º may not be exact).

BTW, had you not mentioned it I would have assumed you speak English natively.

thank's ..... i translate unknown words with "google"... rolleyes.gif
12° angles generate hotspotting ??
My setup : triplet 320 focal lenght , fresnel 310 or 220 ........
How much minimal distance led ----> lcd --> fresnel ------> triplet for best vision ?!?!?

i'm very newbie blink.gif
maneee
hello neighbour (i'm from austria wink.gif)

10mm 280000mcd is no good choice because of the angle and the power consumption (5 times higher than 130000mcd 10mm but not 5 times brighter).

the best choice is definitly 130000mcd 12°.

Where do you gonna buy the LED's.

We are organizing a LED mass order right now. We are going to buy http://cgi.ebay.com/White-LED-Set-of-10000...1QQcmdZViewItem
they have very low meassured angle ~6.7°.

And the price will be around 0.11€ per piece (incl. shipping from china to eu, exkl. 20% taxes) + shipping costs from austria to italy.

or we have another offer from a LED manufacture 10mm 100000mcd 0.07€ per piece ( incl. shipping from china to eu, exkl. 20% taxes )

are you interested ?

Hello Maneee ,
excuse me but i alredy contacted Light of Victory Led Store-lvehk
http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...sid=p2761.l1259 ...
300 led 75€ shipping with tracking included....
Led viewing angle 12 +/- 5 ......
maneee
hello,

that's 0.25€/pc - very expensive.

A friend tried the Light of Victory 10mm and he wasn't happy about this LED.

and with 300 pieces you won't get enough brightness. I would suggest using ~500 LED's.

Alberto70
Ok ,
i try with one floor led-matrix....and if enough brightness adding the second floor...
I think led with 255.000 mcd 30° vision angles is more brightness and best choice for one floor-matrix...
I should make live-test ...

Why your friend wasn't happy about this LED ?!?!

0,25€ included shipment with tracking ... 140,000 mcd very expensive ?!? ohnoes.gif

Alberto70
..and if i use :

LED----->fresnel---->lcd----->fresnel----->triplet

with 200 led 280.000 mcd 40° ?!?!?

Approximate luminous flux: 106.098 * 200 = 21200

take a look at this topic http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?s...0435&st=975

we are talking about leds, just for tell u, only 6º of the light of leds pass the lcd like this image:

That means with 12° you waste nearly no light and with 40° you waste 28/40 of the light (=70%)

For 8.4" i would use 537LED's (double stage 19*15+18*14).

130000mcd 12° = 0.065W*537 = 35W
280000mcd 40° = 0.325W*537 = 175W why using LED with 175W power consumption ^^

Ok Maneee that's right ! Where I buy led ??... LED mass order right now !!! rolleyes.gif
How partecipate to mass order ?!?!
maneee
mass order:

We have an order about 7300LED's now - still searching for orders (should be 10000).

We have 3 different offers.

1. BestHongKong 10mm 135000mcd 12° - 0,145€/pc incl.shipping incl. taxes
2. Offer from manufacture 1 10mm 90000mcd 9° - 0,105€/pc incl.shipping incl. taxes
3. Offer from manufacture 2 10mm 100000mcd - 0,085€/pc incl.shipping incl. taxes

but we are not sure if the BestHongKong are really 135000mcd because you can't buy them at their shop, there you can buy only 100000mcd.

We are waiting for samples now and then decide which we are gonna to choose.

Then everbody has to transfer the money to an account and then we gonna transfer it to china.
maybe we have not to pay taxes (20%) then you'll get the tax money back.

Hmmmmm...(strokes chin), this LED idea really intrigues me. If the LEDs can produce significant lux levels, (close to regular DIYs with 150w bulbs) I could seriously get behind this and consider trying it my self. I mean when you think about it, if you can use LEDs as a viable replacement for a Halogen bulb, not only will you cut the heat down by almost 2/3, you will almost never need to replace the LEDs. Even if you did end up getting to a point where you actually had to replace all of the LEDs, it would take nearly 10 years if not longer (that is just a guess, not sure really blink.gif ) to burn the LEDs out.

I am certainly going to keep up with this thread. If any of you guys get this working at a satisfactory level please post plenty of pictures.

Good luck all!

P.s Alberto, you speak (type rolleyes.gif ) english better than a fair few of the kids at my High school.
