Hey, I have got a PS3 and original xbox. (want to get a 360 but funds are... a little lacking at the moment) Anybody have any good suggestions for games in general?
Any good suggestions for games that just seem to perform better on a big screen? (50" and up)
I have played Resistance: Fall of Man, and I have to say it has got to be one of the best FPS's I have ever played. It keeps the right amount of action and is truelly a next gen game graphics and physics wise. It also rocks on a big screen.
My reference size screen is 88.5" for a "big screen" and 27" for a "small screen".

Meh. We can keep console games here.
I already said in the other thread that driving games are my personal favorite. Need for Speed: Underground 2 I have for both XBox and the PC, though it's the PC version that gets more play, due to my having a steering wheel for my PC, but not for my XBox. I also have Midnight Club 2 on both platforms, though I have Midnight Club 3 for XBox only. I also have Flatout 1 & 2 on both platforms.
I haven't played Burnout 3 on the projector yet, but I plan to.
Driving games in particular I like. I take a 3rd person view on the smaller screens, but I'll take a first person view on the big screen.
Hmmm... I think driving games are the majority of my XBox games, actually.

I know about the other threads, in fact, I think I even posted in one of them, but not sure. But those were geared more towards games on projectors only, I started this thread for good games in general.

Yeah, I have to say that racing games definitely have the biggest impact on a big screen as apposed to a small screen.
I have only played Burnout 1, but I liked it. However, I did think that it was a little... short.
I am quite partial to the Need for Speed series though. I have NFS Carbon for PS3 and it rocks. I also like Forza Motor Sports as well.

What games are good? That really all depends on what your into. You like theatrical games? Shadow of the Colossus is a very good choice, its one thats ment to be played on a big screen. Its for the ps2, you have a ps3 so it shouldnt be a problem. The game even has progressive scan =)
For some reason i like playing GTA SanAndreas on a big screen to. With the big enviornment that it has, its pretty cool when you feel like your the one walking around.. Plus i think its 420p on the xbox.

ROCK BAND!
For my birthday my whole family came over and we all played rock band on the PJ. There was about 10 people huddled around the screen with only 4 spots to play. I was pretty surprised how into it they were, some being over 50 and not never played a video game. There is such a good variety of songs that its fun for everyone. From my 14 year old cousin who sang fall out boy to my mom who sang "Last Train to Clarksville" by the Monkees. Although the $170 price tag might be a little steep, its a pretty good value, including a guitar, microphone, drums, and the game. Soooooooo check it out!
Edit: Played this on the 360.

I just have to throw in that a friend gave me their PS2 a while back when they bought a slim PS2 and I bought a used copy of GTA vice city for like $3 + shipping and cannot stop playing it on the evo. I don't even have the urge to find out what other games are awesome on it, they all are!!

Ok Im done.

Rock Band was the most fun I've had with my 360 with all my family on my 110 inch pj. It was just awesome.
I really enjoyed playing Resistance with my son in split screen. We both had a 55 inch screen

Recently I've been playing COD4 which is truly a great game. The only problem is I wish I could move the map closer to the middle of the screen I get myself shot trying to see the map radar way up north in the corner .
Also the Burnout Paradise is rock'n the house now. Racing games on the big screen is the only way to go.

yes,, we got the wii for xmas,, it is awsome ,,bowling great, tennis great ,,the golf great ,well there all great. Dont' worry about the graphics that people complain about,, there is no game systme like it and it will get better as more games come out. We did get a golf game the silly ones, we took it back and got something else but the tiger woods will be coming for us and the fishing one also.Raving raymond rabbits(or somehting like that) is the weirdest game I played and in the movies when you have to text others is insane .Bowling is like you are in the alley itself on pj.

My office is 30 feet from the pj, I have to go down through the floor, 20 feet to the living room up 5 feet along the wall to the ceiling then another 3 feet to the pj.

I have a wireless keyboard / mouse - I just have to use tv out piped in to the vcr then in to the av receiver for now. Why the vcr? straight into the av does something screwy to the feed.

DVI IS overated. Vga is capable of 1080p as well, its just dvi Is a cross a hdp signal. There have been other threads in the past debating which is better Dvi/Vga. but in the end it seems they are the same. I dont why some moitors have a higher resolution when connectiing with dvi, but I think that they are the same, and you would probably save a good bit of money getting a lenght of vga compared to HDMI/DVI. <---------2 cents

You have a good point, however I'm not to concerned about saving money on vga vs hdmi cables. I have dual DVI out on my vid card, true I could use vga adapters however I don't want to. also with the hdmi I can use some of the pip features on the controller board because I'll be bypassing my av receiver. The way I'm running it now, and at that point. For pj use I will be using dual monitors with the second being the pj directly. For now its dual montors, and I sawp to the pj via TV out when I want to play my games. True that they look pretty rugged that way but thats what I have available at the minute.

Thats not true. I was told by some knwolaedgable office max employees on which vga cable they should buy and they said they have never seen an instance where someone would need to buy a shielded cable over a normal one. They put sheilds on the cable to stop Electromag interferance. Which is only a real problem of you have other (high power lines or magentic devices such as other computers, crossing directly in their path. And most Ht speaker wire is NOT powerful to emit EMI. So if it were me. I would save yourself from the BS retail markets and you would get the same exact signal. Again my 2 cents <----------------

Shielding insulates from outside sources, true however it also helps prevent loss. The better the shielding is on a cable the longer the signal stays nice and strong. No point in having 50 foot of cheap cable and then having the signal barley able to make it to the pj, regardless 50ft is way to long. Thanks for the link though

are you talking about the dvi/hdmi cable? digital signals are less susceptible degrading over distances (it's harder to corrupt 1's and 0's than a full analog signal). I'm not an expert, so look into it for yourself as well, but I've read that unaided HDMI should be fine up to a 50ft cable run, and there are plenty of happy reviews on amazon to go along with the articles I've found.
(I'm planning on running a similar length cable from my bedroom to the HT room in order to connect my PC to the projector, so I've been reading about this a bit. No extensive research yet though)

Not disputing that, just going with the ounce of prevention idea. Also found
this I worked with cat5 during my cisco courses, so that would be great, I can run the cat 5 and make custom length cable.

Just picked up Grand Turismo (GT) 5 Prologue yesterday for the PS3. So far it's been very addicting either on line or just the game's AI races. The realism is intense, I just wished I had a steering wheel and such. Preparing to race on line can be a bit agitating, it takes what seems forever to find matches to race with but very enjoyable. I'd say it's a much better game than the Iron-man (PS3) I picked up prior.
