First, get a flash or a tri pod for your camera. Or are you using a cell phone? Blurry pictures are one of my pet peeves.
Now, the warning. Projector building is addictive but well worth it. The first time you see an image up on the wall from something you built is a feeling that is impossible to describe. Now, you may have a projector that can put a picture on the wall done by summer but you will never be done with the projector. Trust me on this.
Other useful bits of information. If you are using a metal halide lamp it is not good to have it on for only a few minuts. Also, the first burn in (first time you turn it on) should be at least 30 minuts. Don't look into the light without eye protection, probably don't even want to be in the same room with it if it isn't enclosed. These things also get hot. Make sure you have an adiquit cooling system. Try not to touch the glass part of the bulb, skin oild can cause bulb failures (if I remember correctly.)
The best thing you can do is to read posts and threads. A lot.
Although above all, have fun and enjoy the project.
Also, welcome to LL, there are a lot of very helpful people here.
