I noticed you have changed the login on your chat room.

Who will have access to the passwords people use on your website?

No doubt you would advise people to use a different and unique password from what they use for personal accounts and forums. Or will you tell them they don't need to enter a password to get into the chat room.

Right above the login screen...

"No password required. Please use your screen name"

Hello Mech!
I had a fun time asking questions and chat about projectors/screens/quality/price on your chatroom last Friday,2/1.Wbassett directed me to the Elite website for a 72"x 96",120" diagonal Elite brand. He also said I should put some weight in the bottom tube, preferably lead, to keep the screen flat, especially the sides to prevent bowing and picture distortion.

Well,I know I'm a cheapskate biggrin.gif on -somethings-,but I found this Dalite Model B at a lower price and it ships for free!According to a review from a buyer,THESE screens also 'bow' on the sides! biggrin.gif He was'nt too happy and was very dis-satisfied with vertical lines in projection, lol.I,however,am a DIYourselfer and can make modifications/improvements if it means saving some cash and still getting a nice projection.I'm no A/V purist and as I said on the chat,my DIY projector was fun to build, but I'm not buying a $400-$1000 screen for a $300 projector project.

So what do you think of this one(with modifications of course)?:
Dalite

If this would be unacceptable, which ones on this link would be,using my dimensions or close to them?

My projector LCD/TV build is 4:3 format, but other than the occasional DirectTv use, I'd be mostly watching DVD's in 16:9 widescreen and want the screen at the correct size.At least near 100"- 120" wide.Ideally I should be able to adjust the screen up&down for 4:3 or 16:9?

Thanks Mech and I'll try to chat again Friday!

Of course any input from all LL members is welcome also!

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/Sea...&CatId=2433 I have this one , I was going to build one and I figured by the time I spent probable 70 dollars on blackout clothe and probable another 20 or so on wood etc , I checked out these and got one ,, no hassles ,just built a frame around it and up and ready , I do 16;9 and when (for tv mode) and when the show is 16;9 format I switch to 4;3 to use the full screen ,so no matter what is playing the whole screen is being used, there is a tiger direct just around corner from our house so I go there at least once a week .I paid 110 cdn with tax after sale price , on my plog you can see it set up.

I look forward to seeing some of you there tonite!

For those that don't recognize my user name from other forums, my name is Jim and I've been into the DIY screen thing for about 8-9 months. I have a commercial projector, but still enjoy reading what's going on at LL. As far as my screen...I actually came across a cheap supplier for Wilsonart Designer White laminate over the Xmas Holiday, and tonite will be putting it up. It'll be my 3rd screen since getting my pj.

Anyway, sorry for straying off topic. Again, I hope to see you all in chat this evening...it starts in about 1/2 hour! I'm going to pop in when I can (in between installation tasks). laugh.gif

I ended up buying a Draper Luma model #207010 4:3 aspect 69" x 92" x 120" DIAGONAL(actual viewing dimensions) from thefinalclick.com for $138.00,got it in 3 days!I'm real happy with it,but I should've bought the wider 16:9 since I will be watching movies 90% of the time and prefer widescreen. But its very nice for the price and my 1st DIY Pj deserved a decent screen after all my work putting it together.I built the Pj for a 120" WIDTH screen though, and now I am having trouble getting the whole projection on the screen itself. My triplet lens only gives me a couple inches of adjustment and my measurements are off now ,using this screen.I have 2-4" unprojected on the outer edges of the screen and can't get enough of the picture to stay within its boundaries while also staying in focus .I'll have to extend the front of the Pj,which will take some time or buy the proper size screen size.

Its still very watchable though and for a low end screen, its unbeatable.Nice & bright with good overall colors and contrast with no lights on.I see them for $113.85 now the next day after I bought one!
