Hello, I have a friend in the billboard sign business. I was thinking of taking one of his old, white vinyls (I'm pretty sure it's around 10x30 ft) and cut it to size for my screen. whatcha think?
Hi Dangeross
I know it is 4 months old case, But what happened to your experiment ?
I have already tried similar one 6x4 feet is my screen size -
in south part of India we call it " Flexible canvas" used for Digital printing of street banners by printing houses.
It is also white Vinyl material.
Cost was 0.15US$ per Squarefeet - quite cheap for experimenting.
It looks good seemless, white, plain without any logo printing etc etc.. but it has a problem.
1. On one side (this is the side they will digitally print using massive inkjet kind of printers)
it is very smooth and very shiny which reflects the light horribly - not watchable!
2. Other side is relatively not shiny - this is is the side I am using now, but it has a stripped line texture all over it on.
I have a doubt how a light ray will react it on falling on a texture instead of smooth surface.
Anyway Right now I am using it until I get hold of something else.
Somebody who has more experince can say more on this "texture" thing is it good or bad ?
3. And after I project the image on one side ( Mine is a front projection system)
of this material and go around and watch the otherside, I can see the image on the other side also,
I mean to say the light transpasses this material (it is translucent not opague)
Is it the sign of lightgettign lost and it will reduce the brightness (screen gain) ?
Should a screen be fully opague ?
Somebody can help in commenting.....
