How do you calculate resolution from pixel count? Like this LCD screen

Manufacturers like the pull the trick of counting each individual red, green, and blue pixel, but oddly enough they only seem to do this on the vertical resolution, so you have to divide by 3 when you see weird numbers like that -- so 336 x 320.

Right. It's because the red, green and blue sub-pixels are spaced horizontally.
1440X234 is a pretty common resolution, which works out to a "real" 480X234. This is a widescreen resolution, and looks pretty reasonable on a 7" display. Maybe not so good if you blow it up to an 80" display though.
