Does anyone know if you can tell you DVR to record stuff via network? I know it has a network port on the back. unsure what that is for but I am wondering if you can control a Vip622 DVR unit over the net?

I know you can do this with tivo.

Well, I haven't worked at Dish for almost a year, but in my time I wasa Tier III tech agent. At that time the 622 did not have network capability, the network port was not live and designated as "for future expansion". However a lot of things can happen in a year so I can't be sure that the "future expansion" has not become a reality...

I believe these features were activated late last year with a firmware upgrade. I just got Dish back then, and have a 722, but according to the Dish info channel, IIRC the 622 would work as well. Unfortunately i've not actually gotten to hook up the 722 to the home network and see all the features... I know that on-demand movies were available or something like that...
