I have a lg high res dvd player and was hoping that someone had used it in a PJ build?

It does have a excellent picture when playing DVDs and when I hook up a game console it looks good, spects say that it has 480i and 576i.

So if you have used it in a pj let me know how it worked out.

I did a search on ebay so you could see what it looked like http://catalog.ebay.com/LG-DP781-Player_W0...1679450QQ_tabZ1

Thanks Joe

Are you inquiring as to how a build or how the projection went with any 480i resz portable or are you asking if a projector was built with your type of LG player?

I think several members have used the Toshiba SD-P2000 8.9" Portable DVD player but I don't recall seeing an LG used.

I was looking to see if it had already been used in a plog. My plogs are not the best in showing how things are done. So if it had already been used in one then I would not make a plog.

Please PLOG it. That player looks like a good choice and I still think the DVD player builds are useful for certain applications (especially outdoor and/or remotely located theaters that benefit from a built-in source). Not to mention, I have a bunch of parts and an enclosure sitting around waiting for a cheap dvd player to bring to life wink.gif

It looks like there is a hack to make this player region-free:

I'm having a difficult time finding out what the native resolution is for this panel. Why do they make it so difficult!

800 x 400 as best I can determine. Some sites say 800 x 600 but that doesn't make sense because its a widescreen.

It is 800:400

I guess I will make a plog on it.

I'm also trying to build a projector out of this DVD player. I've bought two so far from eBay, and both have NOT WORKED. ARG!
Where did you get yours and how much did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking?

Have you started your PLOG yet? Have you taken the LCD screen out of the DVD player yet?

Yes to all of your questions sorta

I got mine at radio shack sometime ago not certain when If I remember right it was promoted as hi-res. 150$ or there about.

I have started a plog but stop updating it when weldonjb started running test on his plog with HID lighting. I started playing with my HID lights.

At the moment the test phase of box construction is complete. testing with 320mm, 220mm and 260mm-280mm varifocal triplets have been eliminated. Will be useing 10" beseler in final build. nice lens

I have taken the lcd out of the player and it is working. I needed the measurements to build the lcd tray/holder. I have not reworked the metal lcd frame yet or dremeled the back of the frame but will do that within a week or two.

At the moment I am having trouble figuring out where to mount the player and still be able to use the remote and still have access to the inside of the box
