Hi,

I am new here. I am working on a project involving an lcd panel. Currently i stripped down a samsung syncmaster bw 906 to get the panel. BUt it has its own power supply. Does anyone know of LCD screens (19" for eg.) which can take power from the regular smps adapter (+12,G,G,+5).??

Any inputs greatly appreciated.
Thx

why do you want to power it from a other PSU, than the already build-in ?.
as far as i know there is only 2 types of LCD monitor power supplies.
1: BUILD IN
2: EXTERNAL

anyway, its posible to use both types in DIY PJ's.
i have never herd of a PSU so BIG that it could not get out of the LIGHT PATH.

Thanks Blindvision for the response.
I have a project that needs to have an lcd and some other PC circuitry (including motherboard) in the same box. I dont want to have two PSUs. Thats why I ws looking for options. If I can use one of those white 4 pin connectors that we use for CD drive or hard disk, to some how power the lcd, I win. Thats why I hav this qn. Pl. post if you get some info on this.

It's not in a projector, but I am currently powering a 6.5" LCD built into an antique radio/computer jukebox, by splicing a 12v line from the PSU and running into into the LCD's power brick. Apparently, it is fairly common in car PCs.

I found the illustrated posts toward the bottom of page 3 on this thread quite helpful. Just be sure your PSU can provide enough amps.
