Yep...Jack's at work and seriously bored while waiting for an archive to finish up...

Naturally its time for some fun!

Tell us about your manly pride!

Do you wake up in the morning and stretch and roar at yourself in the mirror?

...or do you sullenly scrape the hair off your face and bow to oppression!

Need one that says "I like to mix it up" right now I have the mustache goatee going on but before this it was the beard no hair on the neck it drives me bonkers, then trimmed it to the goatee mustache thing and I am sure in a week or two it will be back to clean shaven. There was this one time I had the chops going on connected to the mustache goatee thing boy did the wife give me heck for that one smile.gif well it was fun while it lasted smile.gif I wish I could click a few of those at one time.

Since I finished my time with the AFReserve a few weeks ago, I just started growing the "classic beard". Not very full yet...

If I can I'll dig up and digitize some stache pics. Been a l-o-n-g time.

Military standards and a stache don't look good at edge of lip line. I did scare my lady when I shaved my head once, never doing that again unless the 'runway' exceeds further back.

There isn’t a choice for the in-between beard. Not clean shaven and not long enough to be called a beard.

Good point. I have mainly three looks:
  1. clean shaven
  2. one day later
  3. two days later
  4. go to 1

That's about the same way I am. Thing is, though, I've actually TRIED to grow a beard. After 2 weeks, though, I realized that it was getting thicker and thicker, but not longer. Basically, my facial hair can't grow more than about 1/16 of an inch.
Nitrogen_Widget
I tried to grow a beard once.
After two weeks the hair curled up & started itching something horrible.

It wasn't even that long.
I have friends that can grow more beard on a weekend than I can in a whole week.

that & I looked stupid because right behind my jaw line hardly anything grows.
Also nothing grows above the cleft of my chin.

So it really doesn't look good at all.
samuraijack
I actually grew my beard due to the "Therapist with a Beard" stereo type. I was working in a Correctional Facility and my "clients" seemed to sort of expect it...

My gf at the time was into it to...wink.gif

I wish. I have a mis-shaped head and yet I shave it down to nothing with a mach3 turbo in the shower. I'm quite lazy lately though so it's starting to grow out and get that fuzzy tennis ball look... well, without being all yellow with white curvy lines. I wish I still could grow a full head of hair. sad.gif Damn male pattern baldness... dry.gif.

Anyway, I don't think I could pull off the cue ball look if I lost my goatee. It would look very strange.

LOL

Try being a native american and grow a full beard,,,,,,, It won't happen tongue.gif

If you had studied your biology a little closer you would know that beard hair is unsuitable for the american hair louse...same with the body louse...

and if you actually have a tick in your beard and dont notice then the reason you have a beard is because your caregivers are too lazy to shave you... tongue.gif
Durachko
Your glaring omission in regards to the stray crumbs is very telling. tongue.gif tongue.gif

<Humph. Now I'll be Googling trying to ascertain whether you're correct regarding the beard hair not being suitable for lice. I've had ticks in the strangest places. ohmy.gif Butt at least I have always been flexible enough to reach them . . . so far.>

I had a pretty good one going last year in the later months:

I never grow it out real long, just get it good and thick and keep it trimmed at about a #4 with the hair clippers.
BlindVision

Indeed.

Thank you for your kind words. This was the first time we had professional family pictures taken. We had some professional pictures taken of our son when he was about 6 weeks old but never as a family. Now he's 1 year and a half and the wife said we had to go tongue.gif. I dragged my feet over there but afterwards I was really happy I did it. They did a great job!

Are you trying to say you all don't look like a perfect, gorgeous family in real life and they photoshopped you or what? laugh.gif

The real question is could they make ME look that good? huh.gif

we all have that picture we hang onto because it was taken at just the right angle with just the right lighting and the planets aligned as the camera flashed. We look "cool" or "good" or whatever in the picture. This is just one of mine. No photoshopping, etc. just the aligning of the planets. I'll post a picture of me with my dad in a few days..his beard far surpasses mine smile.gif.

I know this is a bit aged, however

or do you sullenly scrape the hair off your face and bow to oppression! No I scrape off the hair on my face knowing that as an old man I'll have all the beard I want, in the mean time the beard makes the wife irritated, and I don't mean grouchy wink.gif . When I'm old and those days are past I'll not shave again.
Slartibartfast
I had the"classic" Goatie for a long time, but every time I shaved the naked bits of face it mysteriously got smaller. Now I'm sporting Sideburns. They were chops but, as I mentioned, see previous sentence.
SuntoryTimes
The only facial hair I generally have are my eye brows (clean shaven, one day to a weeks growth, so yeah a kinda beard but not quite). I like having a shaven head normally (though i'm not bald) however am currently growing it out for obvious reasons.
SupraGuy
Hmmm... I guess I missed this when it was around before.

For me... See avatar. Though at the moment my hair is longer. My wife wants me to grow it longer.
The_Duchess
I put down clean shaven. But if I must be honest, I can't grow facial hair. Not even sideburns. What's a girl to do? ohnoes.gif blink.gif rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif

Besides giggle to herself that she never has had to wax her lip...

How I feel about facial hair.... well let's say that I let slip a comment about the grizzled look a little while ago and my temporary housemate came back from Christmas vacation suddenly sporting a beard. Maybe it's a coincidence. wink.gif

I doubt it. I confess to growing my hair longer because my wife told me she thought my "curls" were sexy. The only requirement I placed on growing my hair was that I got to grow a beard as well. Now she won't let me shave either...

I stared at what I thought was a whisker for and hour or 3...... nuthin! Seriously I get some stubble..... mabey 1mm in length no matter how long I stop shaving it. I thought the more you shaved the thicker and longer it grew. Damn it I've been baby faced for 30 years, I've been robbed. When I attempt a mustache it looks like I was playing with coal and wiped my lip.

I'd trade places with you any day, I had to start shaving when I was twelve.

Yeah, that was me, too. Take heart, I couldn't do it until after I was 30.

I had a friend in boot camp who shaved at 0530 and got yelled at for not shaving at 0800... he shaved 4 times daily just to stay in regs.

4 times! yikes! I only shave about twice a week even though I only look clean shaven for a day. It just hurts too much to shave every day. I tried electric razors too but they just don't get close enough.

I also said I'd post a picture of me and my dad and never did..hmmm...this one should do. Me, my dad, and my son. Of course the son doesn't have the beard but he probably will before too long smile.gif.

Reminds me of a guy I knew in high school. He had to shave between glasses to keep from getting kicked out for dress code violation. There was a school endorsed facial hair growing competition, lasted like a month, this guy didn't bother to register till 2 days before it ended (you had to be clean shaven to register) and he won by a landslide.

Also, riding with him was my first time in a vehicle with a sound system that moves your internal organs to the beat. Interesting fellow.

Couldn't stand the longer hair any more but the wife said if the hair went the beard went (so much for thinking my bear is sexy I guess) this was the comprimise:
