Put a second wireless camera in there for a 3d stereoscopic display... sweet.

well sure, if you're not up to 1080P, unless 20.5mm diagonal is too big for you

I miss flying gliders/sailplanes (depending on where you live).
so this would be like doing it, and not doing it -but it would be cool.
ad 2 gyro's, to register head movement, and let the control 2 servo (in the plane, PAN/TILT) and presto -like siting inside the cockpit.

-i'm cool with "just" 800x600px
damm again, i need more money

That is a tech that requires a color wheel (like dlp), so good luck making a diy pj or headset with it.
shadebug
I was under the impression that the whole point of that one was that it had all the colours in the one screen and, as such, needed no colour wheel, it just did the colour switching itself

wait... damnit, you're right, foiled again
kevin8or
For a helmet, just put 3 LEDs behind it, Red Green Blue. Then use a simple circuit to switch them instead of a colour wheel rotating and you get a very thin, lightweight, low power 1080p helmet with 3d.

Nice!

What's the price of this LCD? If you can get this small LCD, can you get small HD LCD's to?
Quasi_Mojo
You can get 720p from this one:

The CyberDisplay® SXGA LV is the world's highest resolution microdisplay with a spatial resolution of 1280 x 1024 in an ultra-compact (0.97" diagonal) package.
KCD-SDCF-AA - $3000

http://www.kopin.com/sxga/

And that's without any controller board.

Wow that's really impressive, but the price is too biggrin.gif
shadebug
so, who'll be first to make a 720p pj in a 8" box? (I'm guessing you'll need to add in some space for your lighting, otherwise focalcalc is saying it'd be under an inch)
Maarten
What's the smallest payable LCD? I have an idea, but for that I need a small LCD, smaller than 3,5 inch, and it has to be payable biggrin.gif
shadebug
What does payable mean? Affordable? Eitherway we need to know what sort of specs you're after and what you think is affordable. You could easily get one off a phone or mp3 player that would be under 3.5" and plenty affordable. Whether you could get a controller for it is a whole 'nother kettle of fish.

Ow I'm sorry I thought payable was a good word, well affordable then smile.gif

I would prefer at least a 800*600 resolution tbh, but that will be to expensive, isn't it?
jimbo12d
How about a 640x480(VGA) 3.5" for under $200
The pdf: here
The link to buy it (the 3rd one down at $185): here

The only thing about buying something so small is that the normal metal halide light sources won't work because they are so big. Halogen bulbs might be worth a shot. Here is a link to a halogen bulb with a 4700 kelvin color temperature rating. here Im not sure how bright a 50watt haloogen is, but it has a very good color rating.

Nice find, but the resolution is too small for my tastes.

Introducing the worlds smallest svga display wink.gif

Hello group, I'm new to this post and new to diy projectors.
Recently, I've been working with the Kopin 0.16" dia. gray scale lcd that is found in the "Wild Planet Spy Gear Video Car". You can buy the toy on ebay for about $50.
Using the existing eye piece lens assembly in the Heads Up Display and a 50 lumen White LED from digikey.com (p/n 365-1394-1-nd), the prototype displays live video from the wireless camera in the toy car. The image is very weak and needs to be viewed in a dark room.

As I said, I'm new to this field and I have a few questions. In the toy above, there is a tinted film and a milky white sheet of paper (diffusion layer) between the light source and the lcd screen. Is the tinted film a polarizer or a some sort of filter?

Has anyone else hacked this toy for the lcd screen? Any good results?
